Bar Catch with UHMW http://bodyforce.com/glossary-atoz/#u covering to protect the knurling on your Barbell. Notice the post set at a 45 degree angle also has UHMW. This post with small surface area also makes it easy to center your barbell.

Sure looks nice. Are Carolina, Kenzie, and Nadine stock equipment? Might be difficult to explain to the wife, but I'll risk it.

Is the X9 available? What's the wait time? The site wasn't accessible for a long time but I can visit it now.

John hasn't mentioned his X9 -- unless I missed the post -- but I'm sure we will be getting some feedback.

Thanks AG! I'm biased but feel the X9 looks pretty terrific as well. Of course function is even more important than looks. We hope to showcase some of those functions in upcoming videos. The website is still under development but should be accessible from here on out.

We are looking at production by the end of the year with deliveries Q1.

John was to receive one of the first prototypes. We ended up tweaking the assembly structure along with cable ratio for the high pulleys and a few other items beyond what is reflected in these prototypes.

After discussing with John, we mutually decided it would be of the most value to potential customers if John took delivery of a production model (the same customers will receive) for testing. That said, the unit you see in these pictures and upcoming videos above is a prototype. We will have a few prototypes available at a further discount for those looking to snap up a one time deal.

    Tnt,

John has still not received an X9 Hybrid Gym. We shifted gears some time back. Instead of sending John one of our prototypes for testing/evaluation we decided it best to send one of the units off the actual production line for the most accurate assessment. Everybody can see exactly what they will be getting when John does his review. We are open to further tweaks if John has something in mind. That said, we are confident the machine has met our design goals....the best all in one gym system on the market. We've implemented a lot of user input leading up to this point.

We have been testing our current unit almost daily for 6 months. Each time we have seen something we want improved we model those changes back into our 3D modeling program. Wrapping up this phase of testing and feeling great about how the X9 has performed we are finally gearing up for production. I will post another message here when we know that exact date.

Are there any other questions we can answer in the mean time? Please let us know.

    Kind Regards,

    Bodyforce

Do you have a rough estimate of a date when the X9 will be ready to ship?

We don't have that date yet but I will post when we do. We ordered 10 tons of our custom made tubing for the frame and that has been delivered.

We will soon convert the 3D drawings into 2D drawings (this is what the guys on the shop floor use to measure, cut and weld with). Tooling, jigs, molding, etc will soon be created.

Please let me know if there are any other questions? Thanks!

Can we get a ball park estimate? Is this machine going to be available before 2017? I see that you guys said John was going to get a machine in 2012 and we all know that never happened.

    • How many steps are left in the path to production?
    • Do you have a manufacturing company lined up?

    • How far off is the product from being finished?

To say this has been a process would be an understatement. The nature of creating a product like the X9 is more complicated than one might think. If we were just creating the best power rack on the market for example, we could have finished in a matter of months. The question we asked ourselves, how do we go about creating a product that has real benefits over what's already out there and future proof it so people don't get left with last years Pentium 2.

After we spent the time and resources creating the product we had to to protect the IP that came out of development. You cannot make public a new idea until you have filed at least a provisional patent with the USPTO. As you develop this type of product, it's a bit of a moving target. You want to keep it as small as possible footprint-wise, yet stretch the capability of what it can do. A change in any one area causes a cascading effect with required modification to other areas you already tested and had locked in. Then you've got to update your patent applications again and so on.

We made the mistake of being overly optimistic with release dates from the get go. We apologized to John for that and apologize to those that have taken interest for so long. Having been involved with the launch of another product that evolved after deliveries were made, we wanted to avoid that Pentium 2 problem mentioned above and avoid the problems associated with shipping replacement parts out (assuming the replacement parts can even use existing bolts patterns). This machine with every option weighs well over 2500 pounds. The Titan that some will compare this to, uses close to 3mm tubing that is 2 x 2 in size. We use 4mm frame tubing that would swallow at least two of the titan tubes in one frame member. We've focused on making this extremely robust, extremely functional and where possible, have ironed out any potential issues.

We therefore undertook a testing program to see where future options might head before releasing the X9 onto the market....to imagine those options even before creating them. Part of our design philosophy was to create the last gym system you will ever need to purchase. That means making it future proof. Some might call us crazy because the normal way of doing business is to purposely make your last generation product obsolete every three years and try to get your customers to buy in on the latest model. We decided to buck that trend. We aren't a huge company. This is certainly not a get rich quick business. Based upon our tight margins, we will be happy to turn a modest profit. That said, this has never been about money. We have a small team that is passionate about fitness equipment and customer service to those who purchase our products. We've been to fitness trade shows around the world to see what the competition offers. We've worked extremely hard to create the X9.

That leads us to the present. We have a factory putting together the production schedule. We have the custom tubing prepared and ready to cut/weld. We are in the process of converting all the prototype changes into blueprints that are used for manufacturing. I know it seems like deja vu but we are looking at 4th quarter for units to ship. It's tricky because we can control many parts of the process but not every B2B we work with can turn things around as quickly as we would prefer. Sometimes it's a waiting game.

By the way, the size of the company does not dictate the quality. The 800 pound gorilla up the street (ICON Fitness) turns out some good stuff but also some of the tinniest, cheap junk you have ever seen for the mass market. You know that stuff at Sears and Dicks Sporting goods with 1.5mm thick tubing, with pulleys misaligned? Yeah, that stuff. We want to stay completely clear of anything in that group. We are a niche. One great product to grow with for a lifetime.

Happy Holidays everyone! I hope each and every one of you are healthy and in good spirits.

The previous poster was correct, Skyscrapers have been built in less time than the X9 Hybrid Gym. I won't repeat the previous reasons for delay but will only say we have an exceptional product ready to go. After a long developmental process focused on function we finally begin production early 2016. More details to follow.

    Be safe and be healthy,

What happened to this thread? I'm looking for a home gym setup for a 12' x 13' room. Thought this looked promising but where is it at?

We've started producing the primary components. This is our first true production run and therefore will take longer than subsequent runs. Our plan is to produce a limited number of X9 frames, H3XL benches and 10 of the most popular options. These will be first to ship. When we have a date for availability, we will post here and to our website. It will be a first come, first serve signup for deliveries. After the initial units hit the market we will meter production higher.

Once we've delivered the core components to those who have been waiting (Thank You!), we will begin producing additional options (previously developed and tested to ensure "future-proofing"). We feel this is the best "roll-out" method, allowing customers to progress, hands on, as soon as possible with the amazing X9!
