    8x315
    3x405
    1x470
    1x480 (pr!!)

I had a lot of trouble getting this week's last set up and locking it out. About 3/4's of the way through I didn't think I'd get it, but I really concentrated on my music and really pushed through it, exhaling. I also did not set the bar down very cleanly (I sort of half put it down, half-dropped it). But, nonetheless, I got it! Hopefully in a few weeks I'll be going for the 5 plates, which has been my goal for about 5 months now!!!!

The how many in 10 min is a great exercise. Just watch your form though, as it'll tend to get worse towards the end. Secret is finding a weight that kicks your ass, but not one that kicks it so hard that you're last 2 min of the workout you end up doing reps that would make people cringe in fear of your back giving out.

I think my max was 73x325# in 10 min.

Thanks for the comments. I do sets of 5 reps with rest in between to avoid getting over-tired and breaking form. I'm not going for speed so much as keeping the intesity level going for a while to increase endurance. I had a few setbacks due to injuries resulting from bad form, so I am using high reps and increasing the weight slowly. It is working well so far as I'm not having any pain, just the good muscle soreness that comes from a good workout.

I DID IT!!!!!! Finally, after struggling for so long and failing dozens of times, I pulled the big 600 five days shy of my nineteenth birthday. I'm on cloud nine. This was my personal nemesis and I persevered to finally take it out.

I got a long way to go to compete with most of you since I just got back in the saddle here.

    6x135 for 5 sets.

It's lower than what I can do but last time I tried to do too much I really messed up my back so I'm going to ease my way into it a bit.

    Deadlift Friday

    10x220

Finally a little bump over body weight (235). It felt pretty good, my main problem is my hands (not even my grip); I'm almost getting blisters. A few weeks ago I got new gloves that are really pretty thin leather, which is overall better since I can grip the bar more completely, but they are not as much protection as the padded gloves. Still, with my history I did not want to push it. Plenty of time to add reps and weight, but getting injured again would be a big set-back. In other big healt-related news, I lowered my total cholesterol by 12% in 2 months, from 183 to 164. No info yet on my whole lipid profile, but a major move in the right direction. Biggest change made in that time period was adding low-impact aerobics 5-6 days a week.

Thanks! I don't know how long it will take, but it's very doable.

In honor of Deadlift Wednesday, 10 year old mini-me (in the profile pic) made me put on Rage Against the Machine "Testify" and locked out 125 at 71 pounds. "Your not just saying I'm strong because you are my Dad, are you?" Kid's going to be a beast when he hits puberty.

Now I am in real trouble... my 150 pound 15 year old came in last night after his game and pulled 315 (that was the weight I was using for my 6 x 10 workout).... it was smooth too, so he probably had more in the tank. Kids are all going to be stronger than I am pretty soon.

    Keeping moving

    10x200
    18x250
Trying hooks to keep my hands from getting shredded. Like them, let me concentrate more on the pulls and less on the searing pain from my skin getting stretched.
