Dunno about that. I was shooting up pretty fast last year but the going has got tough. I'm assuming I have to let my body adapt more fully to get the progress going again. Especially since I'm going at a caloric deficit for a while.

HIT? Don't mention that on this thread....:p

I'm going to haul some sumo's next week. I believe i have alot better shot at 500 with a sumo lift because i have short arms.

I haven't been training a whole lot the last 3-4mths but i have lots of time the next 3-4 mths.

My chins have actually gotten weaker, i'm fatter of course. I do 1-3reps(clusters) for time now. I try to get 15reps. I'm about 235lbs. :o

I'm starting this program in a few days for my chinups: Level 2

As far as glute and leg isolation goes, these

are over 500# equivalent. So if I can't pull 500# (which I can't yet) I think it means that it's the back - especially the upper two thirds - which needs the work.

I lifted a personal best of 180 kg (~397 lb) yesterday. Strength isn't my main goal, but I like to think 500 lb exists in my future.

    Sumo deadlift - 4x1@308, 1x1@319

I thought i would be able to do more weight then this but it seems all my conventional dead work really didn't transfer a whole lot to the sumo.

I was finding 308 pretty hard but i spaced my feet more wider and 319 came up just has easy has 308, the ROM is pretty short, bad for hypertrophy but not weight. Once i get my 500lb dead all i would have to do is deadlift off a box to increase the ROM. I believe i have about a 350 max. Not too bad i guess considering i haven't deadlifting and squatted heavy in mths.

One thing is for sure i feel my hamstrings contract ALOT more using the sumo stance.

Sounds like you are doing the one which is almost stiff legged. Have you tried driving your hips down while starting the pull?

Not sure, i will have to do more research and just continue to experiment. When i went wider 308 came up lot easier then the first few reps and i had a nice bit left in me when i done 319.

    490# with hooks

Unlike the previous maxes near this weight, this one felt easy, and looked pretty.

Wish I would have gotten in on this earlier in the year. I doubt I can catch Zen but I pulled 405 raw last week. It was my 6th set so I didn't try anymore. My grip was shot. Thursday I'll see if I can get 425 raw and post back. 100lbs in 2 months... I'm thinking no but who knows! You guys are a real inspiration to keep pushing myself. I guess pulling in this case!

Welcome aboard. It's not about catching anyone. It's about pulling 500# off the floor.

Being the first won't matter, since lots of guys have already pulled 500# and even a lot more. The world record deadlift is over 1000#.

What matters here is YOU pulling 500# off the floor.

Very true, but the competition can sometimes help with the days I lack the motivation. My grip will definately be my biggest limiting factor. Ah well, it's all in good fun.

I pulled 330lbs yesterday. Nowhere near 500, but one day I'll get there :)

I was successful at my 425 attempt today with no straps or hooks. I do wear a belt though with heavy deads or squats so I guess I consider that raw w/belt. :D My left hand was having a real tough time holding the weight up to lock out.

Yeah it was funny - when I pulled it, Andre shook my hand and instantly said "now we have to do some grip work...."
