    2012 has been eventful!

    I took a new job with Mercedes-Benz in Alabama. I moved down here at the beginning of March, but the family stayed in Ohio to wait on the selling of our house up there. I spent all of June and July in Germany for training. Then we finally bought a house and the family moved down at the beginning of October. I think that we are finally settled in to our new place, so it's time to start picking up on the things that I let slide.

    One of those is my fitness. I'm back up to 185 (started my fitness journey at 205, got down to 165... so I guess that I'm 1/2 way between). It's not so much about weight as it is about how I feel. Carrying around the extra weight and not being active just makes me feel cruddy.

    So it's back at it. Not sure how detailed I want to get with it, but am for sure going to get back to lifting and running... and trying to limit my calories. Not planning on being as anal with weighing everything yet, but know that I will have to if progress doesn't come.

    Step 1 - start the Couch to 5k program again. Here's the 1st run...

    Running:
    0:29:43.3 || 2.3 mi || 12:42.6 min/mi || steep hills (+232 pts)

    The elevation changes here are much more drastic than the flatness back in Ohio! This is going to take some getting used to... GPS says it was almost a 300 foot climb

    Welcome back.

    You should return to your running form pretty quickly. The strength and body composition will take the most focus.

    Any ducks in your pond?

    Nope... no ducks - yet. I think that the folks who lived here before us were pretty rowdy and scared away a lot of the wildlife. I do see deer every day (if I go out after dark).

    Lifted tonight - nothing major, trying to ease back into it. Right now I'm doing a full body workout, kinda following the HIT basics... probably keep that into next year then re-evaluate. Did the following...

    Squat
    Stiff legged dead lift
    Bench
    DB Row
    Lat pull down
    Overhead press (with dumbbells)
    Ab wheel

    Actually have my 8 year old son doing these too. Not pushing him, but he expressed interest, so he has started working out with dad

    Week 1 - day 3 on the C25K program. Did the running all around the property here - some trail running! It was too wet still in some areas, but that was a fun experience :nod: Might have to see if I can mow a few paths thru the woods (but not with the new mower)

    Trail Running:
    0:28:46 || 2.2 mi || light hills (+179 pts)

    A small moral victory today... was tired when I got home from work and said I wasn't going to lift. But I did it anyway :claplow:

    That's the hardest part about changing for the better... the ability to do it anyway

    Well poo... had yet another false start! :o

    First it was the interruption of going home for Christmas... then it was because I was getting ready to go back over to Germany... then I found another worthless excuse... and another. :doh:

    BUT - I'm trying to start over again :D

    In Germany again :( Sucks to be away from the family, but the alone time helps me to be more disciplined :nod:

    This time I'm sticking!

    One of your trips to Germany, you were quite successful with running and either P90x or insanity. Are you doing that this time as well?

    Yes I am :D

    Running... brought insanity, but can't bring myself to do it... just can't stand working out in front of the TV. Been doing pushups in the room every day too. Just trying something to start the ball rolling. I injured my shoulder last year, and it still bothers me. I thought that pushups might begin the strengthing process so that I could do heavier things when I get home.

    Snowed a bunch last night and today, so the outside was in no condition to run... I went out for a hike on the snow covered trails instead!
