Start the New Year off right! The challenge is deceptively simple: Don't drink alcohol during the month of January. Are you up for it?

Note: This challenge begins when you wake up January 1st. Have a glass of champagne at midnight. Enjoy your New Year's Eve party. But when you wake up the next morning (afternoon / evening), the game is on.

    I'm thinking about it.

I'd like to see 12% BF by the end of the year. IF I don't get too far side tracked  in the next two weeks, I'll make it.

If I don't make 12% by year end , then I'll join you so I can get to where I want to be in January.

    :gl:

    Welcome, everyone!

I've posted this in other sober challenges, I think, but it's worth repeating. This post from Mastover is recommended reading for motivation. I'll go ahead and quote it here, to save you a click:

    That's Enough for me...

The last two posts are enough for me! The visual is...well...unsettling.

I posted earlier that I would be in on the challenge if I didn't make 12% BF by the end of the year.

I didn't make it. January will be alcohol free for me.

QUESTION: How does this work? Are we going to check in with each other once/week? Give points for good days/bad days? Report in at the end of the month?

"None of the above, Moveon. Chill man"

The past ones I've participated in were much more free form than that. People post whenever they feel it's necessary or warranted. A looming challenging situation, an urge overcome, something motivational, etc.

No points or anything like that. You either stay dry or not. Of course we encourage you to stay in the challenge even if you slip up. You're free to check in as often or as little as you desire. Personally, though, I think it'd be nice to hear from everyone at least once a week, just to see how you're doing and to make sure you're still alive. ;)

Exactly. This is more about support than it is about competition.

    Happy New Year everyone!!

    I'm in on this challenge!:tucool:

I have set lofty goals (not resolutions) for 2010 and one of them is to curb my alcohol intake significantly.

You guys could install one of those interrupt things that you have to breath into before you can start up your computer, like you have to do for your car after a DUI.

Happy New Year and good luck to everyone this month.

I got past my first hurdle of the SJC when I stayed away from the Bloody Marys and mimosas that wifey served at a brunch we hosted today.
