I didn't drink yesterday. It was a little challenging for me since I was at a friends party. Today will be a little tough too while watching football but I will overcome it! I'm sticking to it this time. No excuses :spank:

Jay, big kudos considering the circumstances. That's too bad about the oversleeping.

Parties and social events have their own special type of temptation. Nice going on staying the course!

    Welcome to the party!

Ditto for me and there will be none today.

    you all are doing GREAT!!!

i was avoiding the sauce last january and its soooooooooo hard during playoffs. it also felt freakin amazing to have the willpower to not drink during a playoff game. for me that was a huge deal.

anyways keep rocking it. i'm glad my paddle has stayed in my dungeon. ;)

In my defense, we had an overnight power outage. Still, :o

If I had followed through on what I fully intended to last night, you'd be busting out that paddle! Instead, I gave the 1/4 liter of Makers Mark I had been staring at and gave it to my neighbor!

    Awesome!! :tucool:

Still on track in Tucson, AZ although temptation was kind of strong yesterday after work.

The trolls that follow me around kept telling me to buy some beers, no one would know!!

Stayed tough and ate clean all day also!!:D

I have to say I stopped drinking back in September (I was never really a huge "drinker", but I'd drink several beer at least once/week) and have since gone on the longest non-drinking since I was a teenager and it's been great. I made it through the holidays without even thinking about it. Surprisingly, as time goes on it's easier and easier. I believe that diligent dieting is a much harder thing--at least for me, because we all have to eat. But in this case, I simply don't buy any beer and that's that.

I did it to avoid mild hangovers and also because it's just healthier. I think alcohol really is a detriment to most people's lives and though it never came close to wreaking havoc on mine, I suppose I always envied people who did without, so I wanted to become one of them. I like being a morning person, too.

I know that troll. He's making an appearance right now reminding of my liquor and beer inventory donwnstairs.

Az, nice going on dismissing his ill advice, I'm doing the same.

Hey Skorb. Nice going on making the changes to your life that you wanted to.

BTW, I've always like your sig line about runners, but until right now had forgotten whose it was.

Soooo, guess where I found myself this afternoon? Yep, the liquor store. My wife and I had ordered a case of wine and we got the call that it was in so I went to pick it up. I can't say that being in that atmosphere had any effect on my desire or lack thereof to imibibe, but I did recognzied the irony and got a nice internal chuckle from it. I think part of the reason that I was unaffected is that I have a fully stocked wet bar in the basement so there was no added temptation this afternoon.

There will be no alcohol today.

I feel this sense of irony when I cook my wife fantastic yummy meals while I'm eating oatmeal or plain chicken breast.

    Killer willpower!!:tucool:

I'm sure if I had it in the house the trolls could convince me to consume!!

Still clean and dry in the southwest sector of the country!

Congrats to all involved in this challenge and hanging on! Excellent job!:claplow:

We've almost reached the one week mark! :tucool:

Yesterday I killed the troll that visits the southwest and decided to reside in the northeast for the afternoon, but later on another minor temptation arose that I refused to let sway me. My wife was going out to dinner with some friends and they congregated at our house. While they were waiting for everyone to arrive they had some wine and on more than one occasion someone who was not aware of my decision not to drink in January asked if I would like a glass. After about the third offer (to drink my own wine) I gave it a nano second thought, but then swatted that evil thought away.

I had no alcohol yesterday and I will have none today.

You must have knocked that troll for a loop. He didn't visit the Southwest yesterday.

Staying clean in Az so far.

That f*cking troll has taken up residence just north of Cincinnati, OH. The urge has been ridiculous. All stress related. Good thing I didn't join the 'No Heroin Challenge'

    kidding. :blank:

    No alcohol for me yesterday.

It's weird the first couple days I was struggling not to drink. But now I don't miss it at all. I hope I can keep up this momentum. My birthday is in Feb. and I was going to wait to drink until then but now I'm thinking I won't even drink at all. I actually feel great and have been sleeping really well
