We had a very nice time. More below.

Thanks about my (possibly) latest medical issue. I'll have more info about my kidneys by Tuesday.

    Update

Wifey and I had a very nice time with Jed catching up on each others' lives as well as great conversation about a wide range of topics. She didn't get to see dear son because he's away for the weekend, but this morning had an opportunity to spend some time with dear daughter. It was a very long day for her so we weren't up late, but the hours we spent last night and briefly this AM were great.

Wifey and I were at the gym this morning for our regular strength and stamina class. Our plan is to take advantage of the great weather and go for a walk with dear dog this afternoon. Dinner plans have not been decided, but I have some cooking in my future because we're hosting a luncheon tomorrow for some relatives. The confirmed head count is eleven and may rise to twelve. The theme for last night's dinner was one that I could get on the table quickly because Jedi was coming from so far way she couldn't accurately predict when she'd arrive. The overriding theme for tomorrow is that there will be no dairy served due to the intolerance of some of my guests. The menu is:

    Appys

Citrus marinated olives (I'm not entirely confident this will come out as I envision)
    Butter bean hummus and crudité
Rosemary focaccia bread and basil infused EVOO for dipping

    Main Course

    Shrimp burgers with pesto
Smoked turkey breast BLTs with arugula
Spring mix salad with herb vinaigrette
    Black bean and corn salad

    Desserts

    Fresh fruit supplied by us
    Whatever my guests bring

    Have a great day!

Good luck on your blood test. Hopefully it is nothing.

Thanks. I'm going for the test this afternoon.

    Update

After 60 minutes at the gym it was a quick turn around to get ready for our guests, but we pulled it off and had a very nice day with my cousins.

I'll be at the gym later this morning for my usual Monday session with my trainer.

    Have a great day!

I know I was on the site yesterday and thought I posted here, but the evidence says otherwise.

Exercise yesterday was 50 pushups and dinner was baked haddock marinated in the citrus marinade I used for the olives this past weekend. I served a salad as the side dish.

I'll be a the gym later this AM for a push/pull routine. Dinner tonight is going to be an Asian stir fry with roasted pork and served over cauliflower rice.

Lastly, I got the results from Monday's blood test and my kidney readings are much closer to normal, but since they're still outside of the desired range my GP wants me to see a specialist. That's set up for Friday morning.

    Have a great day!

Dinner tonight is going to be BBQ chicken thighs and corn casserole.

    Have a great day!

This forum has gotten eerily quiet. Happy 3 day weekend.

Yes it has. Thanks about the weekend.

    Update

Not fitness related, but health related. Just like last week's visit with my GP, what I heard from the kidney specialist was not what I was hoping for. It's my first time seeing him so it was a little hard to fully determine how he chooses his words, but my take away was that he's more concerned about the lab work than my GP was and his physical examination only exacerbated it. Like my GP he said that some of the readings were inconsistent with each. He wants me to have a CAT scan of my abdomen as well as additional blood and urine tests and we talked far too long, which means in my book anything longer than zero, about chronic kidney disease. WTF??! At this point he doesn't want me to make any dietary changes so I'll continue on my merry way.

To say I'm a bit shaken would be correct, but what's most important is how I'm going to deal with it. Firstly, I'm going to do all that was recommended and secondly I'm going to the gym this afternoon to punish some iron.

It's just me and wifey for dinner tonight; what I'll be cooking still needs to be decided.

    TGIF!

Wow, I was hoping the specialist would send you on your merry way after saying it was nothing. Other than infections and diabetes, I'm not sure what causes kidney disease. Hoping it is caught early and at a treatable, non-progressive point.

Thanks Mac. Just like my GP the specialist was a little stumped about the contradictory information.

    Update

Wifey and I went out to dinner last night; the restaurant is in walking distance of our house, but the food didn't wow me so I don't think we'll be going back anytime soon.

We were at the gym this morning and considering how I'm feeling had a much better workout than anticipated. This afternoon we'll be taking dear dog on a walk of a few miles.

Dinner tonight is going to be St. Louis ribs, which I just threw on my komodo cooker. Presently I'm undecided about the sides due to various likes and self imposed dietary restrictions.

    Have a great day!

I had a solid workout this morning. Five rounds of:

    Standing Kb rows
    Kb reverse lunges
    Kb snatches with a squat
    Pushups
    Mountain climbers
    Planks with alternating hip touches.

Our plans for the day are still undecided, in part because we're waiting to see what happens with the rain. If we're home I'm going to make beef with garlic and sherry with a side salad as well as textured vegetable protein (TVP).

    Have a great day!

Hope your kidney issue turns out to be a false alarm, or something minor. Weather turned around here, sun was out before (not now), and it stopped raining.

Thanks. I'll have information once the CT scan is done. Yes, an odd weather day. When the rain appeared to be slowing down we decided to go to a winery/cidery about one hour away. It intermittently rained the entire drive, didn't see a drop of rain while on the grounds, and there was some mild sprinkling on the drive home.

    Update

Holiday or no holiday, I had my usual Monday session with my trainer. After warmups I did three rounds of:

    Incline Db chest presses
    Incline chest flyes
    Incline Bb skull crushers
    Planks
    Leg raises
    Ab wheel rollouts

I'm not sure what our afternoon activity will be, hopefully something outside to take advantage of the great weather. Dinner tonight is going to be the beef dish I described yesterday served over cauliflower rice. There will also be a salad.

    Have a great day!

Note to self: Hit the reply button or your post will not be sent. :bang: I wrote the following yesterday:

For today (Wednesday) I did a light imitation of Shamie and was at the gym before 6 AM for a strength and stamina class.

Dinner tonight is going to involve boneless pork chops with a garden salad.

    Have a great day!

My exercise for the day has been walking, pushups, and planks.

Along with wifey we picked out our new kitchen counter tops and tiles for our bedroom bathroom. The work starts Monday. Of greater importance was that I recently submitted my football pool picks for the first week of the NFL season. :D

Dinner tonight is going to be sloppy joes with red potato oven fries. What about the carbs that certain family members are avoiding at dinner you may ask. They were the ones who made the suggestion, so the "rules" apparently are not set in stone when they want to deviate.

    Have a great day!

What kind of stone are you getting for the kitchen?

We're not getting stone. For a number of reasons wifey didn't want it, so we're getting some type of laminate.

    Update

I've spent most of the day so far waiting for the delivery of the aforementioned materials and they just came. I am not a fan of Home Depot and the experience gave me one more reason to solidify my position. The delivery window given to me yesterday for today was 6 AM to 8 PM, with an assurance that I could track my delivery today and also that I would be given a phone call "well in advance" of the actual delivery. Tracking online was not possible beyond "Your order is being processed." and all I got from speaking with four people at the store was that they could only give me the name of the sub contractor making the delivery, but had no phone number and that the company did not respond to consumer inquires. A message left with the store manager has not yet been returned. Oh yes, that phone call well in advance of delivery was made when the truck was parked in front of my house. Clearly there are definitional differences in the term.

Exercise today is going to be much like yesterday, walking, pushups, and planks. I'll be moving some iron tomorrow.

Wifey and I have no social plans tonight; dinner is going to be something involving chicken breasts.

    TGIF!

All I can say is that it isn't just Home Depot. Hopefully the installation goes better.

Thanks. The work starts tomorrow AM.

    Update

By all who attended and including the trainer, it was agreed that yesterday's strength and stamina class was one of the toughest to date. After that the Seltzers went apple picking, which was a lot of fun, but it also meant hours on our feet. After what transpired yesterday and a poor night's sleep in part due to going to bed too late for no good reason I wasn't expecting much at the gym today, but I had a great workout. I love pleasant surprises like that.

For the most part my nutrition has been sub par starting Friday night. Friday and Saturday dinners were pub food and yesterday I had a freshly made apple cider donut at the orchard. I usually don't indulge in sweets, but it was delicious. Wifey tried to justify eating them by stating that they were healthy because they used really fresh apples and made everything on the premises. Even she couldn't get through that one with a straight face.

I probably have an afternoon dog walk in my future and then we'll have to attend to some prep work for the contractors.

Dinner is going to be grilled or baked chicken breasts served over a garden salad.

    Have a great day!

Are you going to have no use of the kitchen during construction? No cooking?

Shamie the kitchen should be a four day job and I think I'll be able to do some quick cooking most nights. I also have two grills that I can use. It helps that we're not doing a remodel nor replacing any appliances. I'm supposed to host my book club on Friday, but am considering postponing that just in case the job runs longer.

    Update

The work started today and since we're responsible for many of the supplies I see a lot of trips to the hardware store in my future. Due to today being the first day I wasn't able to have my normal Monday session with my trainer, but may try to finagle a session tonight.

I have no idea what we're having for dinner; as it is it's only going to be me and wifey.

    Have a great day!
