I was wondering if he ever went to RB from where he went to college.

AFAIK, he didn't go too often, but has definitely been there before.

    Update

We got back from the beach yesterday and it was another fine vacation. I only gained about a pound so I'm calling that victory, especially since I did virtually no exercise. In years past I'd either cycle or run for at least one hour a day plus the occasional beach volleyball game. None of that happened this year because we arrived at our house before we could get in so we decided to walk to a bakery to get some pies for that night's dessert and then go to lunch. Between the bakery and lunch spot I managed to trip on a curb and I sprained and bruised my left ankle, bruised both knees, and the side of my right hand. To my credit, the pie I was carrying was not damaged.

While the above mentioned mishap did keep me sedentary-ish while away, I was at the gym this morning and will be there again tomorrow.

    Have a great day!

Now that the vacation is over, it's back to weekday reality which means Monday morning fun with my trainer. After some warm ups I did 3 rounds of:

    Incline Bb bench presses
    Incline Db flyes
    Incline Bb skull crushers
    Lat pulldowns
    Standing Bb curls
    Planks
    Heavy rope fun

    Have a great day!

My (minimal) exercise for the day is likely going to be limited to walking 1.5 miles roundtrip to meet a friend for breakfast. Most of the rest of the day will revolve around visiting a very sick friend in the hospital.

No dinner plans at the moment because of the above and that I have a doctor's appointment tonight.

    Have a great day!

Ouch. Not a fun way to start a vacation. Hope you are all healed up now.

Indeed! I got surprisingly banged up, especially considering I was only walking, but should be fine in another day or so.

    Update

As expected a large chunk of yesterday revolved around traveling and spending time with our friend in the hospital. Not too long after we got home I saw my doctor about my ongoing leg/ankle swelling and she changed my blood pressure medication. Unlike last time she didn't advise me to see a cardiologist or someone who could check for blood clots so that's a positive. Unfortunately, she also strongly advised me to not run until we have the situation stabilized so whatever small odds I had for being prepared for the NYC Marathon have taken a big hit. To end my tale of the visit on a positive note she wanted to do some poking and prodding of my abdomen and she asked me to relax and breath normally. When she started she once again asked me to relax my muscles. I told I was relaxing which was an indication that there's lots of muscle hiding under the extra 10 pounds I'm carrying.

I'm going to hit the gym for a solo workout this afternoon.

Dinner last night was sautéed clams and tri color couscous. Tonight is going to be salmon and I'll be incorporating some of the herbs wifey is growing along with some fresh lemons. The side is yet to be decided.

    Have a great day!

Didn't know your leg issue was that serious. I hope it gets back to normal soon.

Thanks. I was relieved that her first inclination was to change meds instead of me having to take a series of test.

    Update

My feet are still swollen, as I expected, so I stuck to upper body and ab exercises at the gym.

No cooking tonight because we're going to my MIL's house to see some cousins who are here on vacation.

    Have a great day!

No exercise to speak of today, maybe there will be some light stuff done later.

We're in the process of getting bids for work we want done around the house and one of the firms is coming tonight at 6:00. How this will affect dinner plans, if at all, remains to be seen.

Shortly after I got back from the gym yesterday, about the time I would have posted here, I was informed that we would be hosting a small BBQ for some of wifey's relatives and they would be here in about two hours. That gave me a lot of time [/sarcasm] to plan a menu, shop for it, prepare the appys before our guests arrived, and take a shower. All was accomplished and we had a fine time.

We were at the gym this AM for some more fun. Unlike yesterday we have no plans for the balance of the day and are hoping it will be low key with probably a few mile dog walk this afternoon.

Dinner tonight is going to be a spring mix salad with a number of the small leftover portions of protein (shell steak and salmon) we have in the refrigerator incorporated.

    Have a great day!

Is the leg swelling better after the medicine adjustment?

What was the menu yesterday. Given the time frame, I'm assuming you didn't smoke any meat but probably grilled. Did you do your famous hot dogs?

As of yesterday my legs and feet are much better; I was going to write about it tomorrow to make sure it wasn't a one day anomaly, but since you asked.....

    Thank you.

No dogs. Aside from my BIL who came the others didn't know about the tradition and given that I was looking forward to a "do almost nothing" afternoon I kept things minimalist. Clearly there was no time for smoking, at least lo and slo, anything, but I did cook the shell steaks on my BGE.

    Appys

    Shrimp cocktail
Baguette as a vehicle to dip into garlic infused EVOO

    Main Course

    Boneless shell steaks
Couscous with butter and basil from our garden
Spring mix salad with various salad dressings

    Dessert

    Fresh pineapple and cherries
    Cake
    Coffee
    Tea

    Beverages

    Water
    Seltzer
    Beer
    Wine
    Champagne

    Update

Aside from walking dear dog it's been a sedentary afternoon. :-)

I was at the gym for a very mediocre workout. Despite doing nothing detrimental of late I had no gas in the tank. I think I may introduce oatmeal into my breakfast as a healthy source of carbs. I have a blood test tomorrow which hopefully will shed some light.

    Have a great day!

If you mean that menu was minimalist, then we have a different idea of the term.:) Glad your legs are feeling better. You can blame the poor workout today on the eclipse. It happens.

Minimalist probably wasn't the best word to use, but whatever the best descriptor is there was not a lot of preparation necessary. Thanks about the legs and I like your explanation for what happened at the gym yesterday.

    Update

Exercise for the day was pushups.

Dinner plans are still up in the air; I'm leaning toward making a salad and throwing in beans for protein.

    Have a great day!

Exercise for the day has been 40 pushups and a 2 mile walk to do an errand. If I can find some motivation I'll get my arse to the gym for a light weight workout later this afternoon.

Dinner tonight is going to be an experiment. Stir fry shrimp and veggies with sweet Italian sausage served over kale. :scared: What could go wrong?

In JSF news, a former frequent poster on the site, Jedi will be stopping by for dinner on Friday and to stay the night as part of a road trip she is on.

    Have a great day!

When Jedi used to post, that was like a lifetime ago. Say hello from me.

Will pass along your greeting and, yes, the site has changed mightily since those days.

    Update

I'll be at the gym later today after going to the doctor to follow up on my feet, which are now fine, and how I'm reacting to the new medication I was put on.

Dinner tonight is going to be roasted pork tenderloin with a side of eggplant.

    Have a great day!

I never made it to the gym yesterday because the short doctor's appointment turned out very differently than I anticipated. I really thought it was going to be an extremely routine visit and that once she examined my legs and told me my blood work was fine I'd be on my merry way to move some iron. Not the case.

My feet were fine, but some of my kidney readings were very out a whack. All associated secondary and tertiary numbers came back okay so she was very perplexed to the point of suggesting that the lab may have made a mistake. Our strategy going forward is for me to be retested while having an appointment with a kidney specialist just in case the lab results are correct. Crazy stuff. If this was a show/movie about a medical mystery I might be mildly interested, but since it's me I'm all in. :(

I haven't exercised yet today, but need to do something for my mental and physical well being.

Jedi is going to be here around dinner time; she's coming from very far way so she can't predict when that will actually be so I've chosen a menu that can be cooked quickly. I'll be serving:

    Marinated grilled flank steak
Tri color couscous with butter and basil
    Roasted asparagus

Dessert is to be decided. We have ice cream, cake, and fresh fruit.

Depending upon on how Jedi is feeling after her drive we may be doing our usual last night of the month event and going to watch a home town band at a nearby tavern.

    TGIF!

Have a good time catching up with Jedi.

Hopefully the kidney issue will turn out to be nothing.
