Good luck with the rest and recover.

    Jaer
hates it when an injury prevents lifting. He'd almost rather just be lazy.

Thanks. I did some rolling about 30 minutes ago so that should help.

Hope the hip flexor heals quickly.

Do you remember any of the pt stuff you did for it last time?

Thanks about the healing and yes, I do remember most of the stuff that my PT had me do. This time I have two things in my favor compared to 2013; I'm not training for a race and the injury is much milder.

    Update

Today's a cardio day, but at most I'm going to go for a walk. Rest is one of the best ways to get healed so since there is no imperative for me to run I'm going to take the day off. I may do some stretching this afternoon.

    Have a great day!

I know I responded yesterday; I guess I must have hit preview instead of submit.

    Thanks Kree.

    Update

I went for a two mile walk yesterday and in the afternoon did some stretching, but no rolling. Unfortunately, I stayed up too late last night doing much of nothing. Dumb. Fortunately, my hip flexor is feeling normal today and since it's a gym day I'll be moving some iron in about 45 minutes. Deadlifts are on the menu.

    Have a great day.

    Deadlifts: 8x8 w/ 105
    Db bench presses: 3x8 w/ 55, 1x5 w/ 55, 4x8 w/ 50
    Lat pulldowns: 8x8 w/ 70

    45 seconds rest between sets.

Short, but effective. I was disappointed with the bench presses, but will be increasing the weights on the other exercises next time.

Are you holding back on the deadlifts? I know you could lift heavier if you wanted to. What's the deal on that? Just curious.

I could absolutely lift heavier; I believe when I was last doing deads I was doing multiple triples with 245. Yesterday was a lot more volume so I lowered the weight because of that and because I want to get my form locked in. I'll be increasing the weight next week when I do them again.

    Update

Today's a cardio day, but I played it conservatively and walked instead of running. My leg is feeling normal so I'll go for a run this weekend.

    Have a great day!

    8x8 fun at the gym.

    Squats
    Db bench presses
    Bb bent over rows

It's going to be an interesting weekend. Dear son took a final this morning and doesn't have another one until Wednesday so instead of staying at school and being surrounded by a bunch of stressed out peers he's on his way home as I type. He's going back on Tuesday. Tonight I'm hosting my book club and wifey is going away for the weekend with some of her girlfriends to the vacation home that one of them owns. Tomorrow afternoon I'm going to an annual chili party that a buddy of mine throws on the day of the SEC championship. Not sure if dear son will be coming with me. No plans for Sunday. Oh yeah, fitness. Either tomorrow or Sunday I'll be going for a run and there will also be stretching involved.

    TGIF!

Going to be closing the office shortly and morphing into "Get ready for hosting the book club meeting" mode. Also, dear son will be here in about 45 minutes. I know he plans on eating dinner here, hey why turn down a free good meal, and am pretty sure that he'll make himself scarce after that. Since all of his friends are still away at school I imagine that we'll be spending a decent amount of time together this weekend, which is great. I'm going to try to convince him to come to the football/chili party tomorrow afternoon.

    Menu for tonight:

    Appys:

Smoked cheddar and mozzarella cheeses that I made about a month ago served with crackers
Dillweed dip served in a hollowed out rye bread that I baked earlier today
Spinach balls (sounds healthier than they really are)

    Dinner:

    Grilled marinated flank steak
Roasted red potatoes with EVOO, thyme, and garlic
Sautéed fresh green beans with roasted sesame seeds and sesame oil

    Dessert:

    Grapes
    Apple cake

    Drinks:

    Wine
    Beer
    Seltzer
    Whatever else anyone wants

Thanks Kree. Dear son came home 15 minutes ago. Took him about 30 seconds to open the refrigerator and also ask what was for dinner.

The book club meeting should go well; the limited feedback I've gotten was that the book was well received which is a good thing because the boys can be brutal if a pick isn't liked. Fortunately that hasn't happened to me. :D The dinner is pretty straight forward by design so I don't have to spend a lot of time away from the group while cooking. The appys aren't the healthiest so I'll have a nibble or two, but generally stay away.

The book club meeting went great last night, but from a fitness perspective no so much. I consumed far too many calories and by the time I finished cleaning up it was on the far side of midnight so after an evening of cooking, cleaning, and hosting I was pretty darn tired. Still am, but I'm trying to muster some motivation to go for a run before going to my friend's chili/football party this afternoon.

    Have a great day!

Wifey has a work holiday party to attend tonight so I'm going out with dear son for dinner and a movie. Tomorrow he goes back to school for his last three finals and I'll be going to pick him up on Friday after I work out. He'll be home for almost two months so will be bringing too much stuff to take on buses and trains, which is how he's getting to school tomorrow. Dear daughter's semester ends later than his and then she's going to her bf's family for a few days before heading home.

Getting back to fitness and nutrition, I've been good today, but dear son is pushing for Mexican so it may not turn out to be a stellar day after all.
