I went up to Philly this weekend, and went to the Convention Center to look for Seltzer, MacDiver, and Shamie at the Marathon expo yesterday. I didn't see any of them, however... it was only two years ago that we all met up there. While the weather yesterday was beautiful for a run (they now split the half marathon off and hold it on Saturday), the weather today for the full distance would be miserable... a cold and very windy day, compared to what we've been having so far this fall. Then again, I remember being there one year (as a volunteer) when it took place in the snow...

I didn't know that they moved the half to Saturday. Did you run today :D. I checked Shamie's thread since he might have snuck it in

I did not run. I was within a few blocks of the course (down along the Delaware River, where it turns back up toward Center City) at Ikea around the time when the race would have been passing, but I stayed far enough away to avoid the traffic issues (and to keep myself from just jumping right in there LOL).

I miss those JSF eating and drinking meet ups where we managed to squeeze in a run.

Yes, that was fun. My only complaint about the Philly Marathon, is that almost the whole 2nd half of the race, you see the fast people who are almost done:dreamy:, and I still have 10 miles to go.

Yes... the second half "out and back" along the river (punctuated with a BIG hill at the turn around) can indeed be deflating... until you see Mac (who is way out in front of you) doing pushups along the side of the course. Then it becomes devastating (and inspiring).

We could do that again next year... but you guys need to pick the race... I'll show up to eat and drink (perhaps immediately before the run... cookies FTW).

Shamie, I feel the same way about the second half of the Philly Marathon....I just want to be on the other side of the road running toward the finish line instead of continuing to run away from it.

Even with Mac's pushups, sit ups, and bare feet he was so far ahead of me that I was spared having to witness his awesomeness.

Phil, as you well know should you run next year and bring cookies to the starting area, it would not be the first time.

As I've become an expert in finding reasons not to lace 'em up, signing up for a race may be just what I need. I'll give it some thought.

Sounds like a nice race. Thank you for bringing it to my attention. I am not sure I want to run a Spring marathon, but I will let you know if I decide, sometime before Jan 1.

Another option is the Coastal Delaware half and full. I have run the half the last few years and enjoyed it. It is at the end of April this year. I could put a few people up in my condo. I was thinking of running the full this year. Part of my reason for adapting to the cold

I would totally do that, except I'll be running the Disney Castaway Cay 5k that day in the Bahamas.

So we are back to Lancaster PA. I'm OK with that. How about everyone else?

I'll have a better handle on Lancaster once I start to do some runs that are longer than what I'm presently doing.

Unlike you I'm not Superman and need to do some training for a marathon. :)

I'm planning on eight weeks. That should be enough.
