What in the hell, I am losing my mind
I have no logical explaination for this.

I just made a pot of coffee. Poured myself a mug, lifted the mug to my mouth and got a whiff of hard liquor. Huh? I smelled it again, yes, it's definitely alcohol. I always make a twisted face when I smell anything other than vodka, and it smells like something other than vodka. I decided to taste it and it even tastes like alcohol! It's not subtle either, very strong aroma that bites you in the nose.

I poured it into another glass, and rinsed out the one it was in. Then I made another pot of coffee. This batch was fine  and here is the other one that still smells like some kind of whiskey.

I'm weirded out. Maybe it was contaminated, but I just dont really know how or with what.

I'm afraid I might die of poisoning or something now
I only had a few sips because I couldnt believe what I was tasting.

Drink the whole pot and see how you feel. Then you'll know

Seriously though...are you sure it's not just really nasty/gone bad coffee? I can't imagine how coffee could end up having a high alcohol content...

    Gee thanks guys! :p

I am trying to come up with a rational reason how this could have happened.
I dont see.... I mean I took 3 little scoops from my can of ground coffee, like always.
Put milk in it. Milk's fine.

Second pot I did the same exact thing, and it's fine.

I know I can be absent minded, but come on.

Uh oh, getting kind of nauseated, feeling faint........

    ;)

I am obsessed with this! I keep smelling this coffee in the cup here to make sure this isnt a figment of my imagination.

I need to send this to a lab or something!

When was the last time you brewed a pot or cleaned your coffee maker? Sometimes the buildup in the system can become rancid or mildewy if it is not cleaned/used regularly.

Did your friends make themselves a "special cup" earlier?

TheRyanator --- Ahhh, there is some comfort in that explaination :D I havent cleaned it for a long ass time. But it is weird that the pot I made not 2 minutes later came out fine. That does seem like the most likely reason though, thanks!

ferlinger --- Yeah man, when your coffee turns out like whiskey, I'd think anyone would be intrigued by that.

If you have not used it in a while it may do that as well...and that would explain why the first batch came out funky ("cleaned the pipes" so to speak) and the second was fine.

    Hope you work it out!
