Had minor throat surgery Monday midday. The doctor injected some chemical into the soft pallet in the roof of my mouth / top of throat. It supposedly will create some scar tissue in there, which will stiffen it up, and change the resonant frequency and eliminate snoring. Kind of a radical concept. I hope it works. Meanwhile, my uvula is about 10x normal size and nearly 1.5" long. The tip actually hangs so low it touches the back of my throat causing a minor gag reflex. When I talk or breathe heavy, the uvula swings forward and lays on the back of my tongue, also creating a gag reflex. Not fun! Hopefully it starts getting smaller so I can carry on normal conversations tomorrow.

Went to see my PT yesterday to diagnose a left hip / hamstring / glute issue that has been bothering me for a couple months. With her help we determined that the problem is located where my hamstring tendons attach to the pelvis. The area gets inflamed after squat or deadlift workouts and just never seems to heal. She told me I need to take it easy for a couple weeks and see if it can recover. It doesn't seem to prevent me from squatting or deadlifting; I'm still hitting my rep targets and getting stronger. But its probably good advice to let it get back to 100% and then resume training heavy. I have lots of time before the next contest.

Will try ice / heat cycles and ibuprofen.

So instead of deadlifting Saturday, I will be doing a bunch of MOB work she suggested, then do my overhead routine.

    Saturday 2/2

Decided to do Sunday's workout on Saturday, since I'm skipping deadlifts and squats for a week or two while my hamstring tendon inflammation issue goes away. I miss deadlifts already. :(

Wow, a whole week has gone by and I forgot to post my journal to these forums. I haven't been relegated to page 2 in a long time. Looks like it wasn't missed. Does anyone read this or derive any benefit from it anymore? Honestly, I'm getting tired of re-typing what I keep in my handwritten logbook. I get no benefit from posting here.

Supposed to be JTS 5's realization squats, but I'm still nursing a sore hamstring tendon. I've been cycling ice and heat and taking some ibuprofen, and it has been getting much better.
Did axle cleans instead, up to 195 for a few singles. Missed several attempts at 205. This is a small step backward.
Also did some farmers picks and holds with my new Area51 rig. Did 210ish for a few 20 second holds then 375 for 22 seconds. My grip needs quite a bit of improvement before May. It needs to be part of the routine at least twice a week I think.

    DL
550xF (one of the other guys had this set up, so I gave it a try, and failed). Could be for one of two reasons. 1, I was just tired after doing the all-out set with 470. 2, the Juggernaut program has made me much more efficient at reps than at singles. I suppose I should give the program a chance to fix this itself, as next month is the "3's" month and it promises higher weight / lower rep sets which should help bring back 1RM ability.
