Hello everyone! Forgive me if there is already a thread on this.

Aside from the obvious major advantages to losing weight and getting fit(including all health benefits), what are some of the lesser known, surprising QoL advantages to dropping the fat?

The thighs on your pants don't wear out so quickly -)

I'm not sure what sort of things you're looking for.

Clothes will fit better. Stuff like that?

There's just too much to list, some that I can immediately think of:
    Improved sleep
    - Reduced risk of:
high blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis, osteoarthritis, gout, elevated triglycerides (blood fat), decreased HDL cholesterol, angina, heart disease, some cancers, gall bladder disease.
    - Improved:
    energy, upregulating BMR + RMR

I would've thought all these come under the "health benefits" category, surely? Not that I disagree.

As well as physiological benefits, you get the psychological ones: you're more confident, happy, attractive (to yourself and the outside world) - you have the satisfaction of a "job well done".

Yes, I have a tendency for capturing a more comprehensive and grander outlook on things, however, there are many, many fat people I know of you are exceedingly happy, positive, and joyful. :)

I'd rather be miserable and unhappy, but know that I'm in prime physical health. I guess I'm just a bit goofy that way.

    Thanks for the responses!

I am looking for things one may not think about/realize like:

-It's easier to put on socks and shoes
-You don't have to worry about your stomach popping out the bottom of your shirt.

I've found the fitter I get, the easier it is to hurl my opponents onto the ground in Judo.

    Major benefit for ME :)

More likely to get a job or promotion. Supposedly psychologically, a fit, healthy person is seen as more organized and more capable than an over-weight, out-of-shape person.

This could be due to increased confidences and personal comfort, but I think it is a combination of that and the perception from other people. Humans make snap judgments about many things; first impressions mean a lot--and the first impression you can make in most social situations is completely based on appearance.

By the time you are introduced and are shaking someone's hand, that person has already made note of your appearance is already forming opinions/schema about you.

Future opinions are attached to and weighed against already formed schema, and the more established a certain way of thinking is, the harder it is to change.

    Jaer
isn't vain, but he does try to make a decent showing of himself.

Often that means your clothes are the wrong size or not made for you.

I met a girl last summer that was maybe carrying five extra pounds. Problem is they were all around her belly button. Low cut jeans and a short top wasn't a good choice for her. She didn't need to drop weight she need a new wardrobe.

The list really is endless. Many shallow, some not.

    1. Don't dread taking shirt off at the beach.
    2. People don't look at you in dread when you sit in the seat next to them on the bus.
    3. After showering, can wrap around a towel around you. When I started, couldn't do that.
    4. Skin between thighs doesn't rub together like when you are fat.
    5. Not always tired.
    6. You feel more comfortable in your clothes, your gut is not hanging over your waist.
    7. Not always sweating.
    8. You don't dread going shopping for clothing (as much). :)
    9. You feel healthier.
    10. Can wear a Speedo. (just kidding about that one).

    - Squeezing past people to go to the bathroom at the movies or restaurants is easier.

    - Being stuck next to a stranger on a bus or plane ride isn't as awkward or uncomfortable, because you take up less space.

    - Hot weather is much less unpleasant.

    - Being able to jump higher or do more/easier pull-ups makes you feel stronger even if you aren't.

    - Collared shirt problems diminish a lot (namely, being choked by them, or having chafing on the skin around your collar).

    - A lot less likely to snore.

    - A lot less likely to get indigestion.

    - For some reason, if somebody in a room passes gas, people are a lot less likely to assume it was you.
