    the above was saturday.

sunday i worked a few hours and then we just vegged and watched tv all day since it was raining. had a few beers. calories ended up somewhere around 2300. started feeling congested and coughing a bit saturday night and by last night was showing symptoms of the cold everyone else in the house has had for a couple weeks. taking today as another rest day to help fight this off. lots of good food and rest. i'll try to take it easy at work as well.

was still feeling pretty meh this morning.... and woke up with a sore throat but feeling way better than yesterday. hrv reading showed way more sympathetic so i'm sure my body is fighting something off. decided to lift anyways and was glad i did. felt good and have felt good all day.

My son infected us all with a cold this weekend but it has been the mildest I can remember. Hope your ailment passes similarly. Now I'm going to go read about heart rate variability.

yeah i have no doubt mine was the result of my two year old nephew sneaking drinks out of my straw when i'm not looking and randomly sneezing on my face! damn kids!!

so any news on the sleep front? did you take the sleep test? i think once you actually get some decent :sleep: everything in your life is going to feel drastically easier.

as far as hrv......i think it's cool to do if you already have the required hrm and are into numbers and sciency stats...... but i don't think it's hugely important by any means. i started taking it out of curiousity and as just another tool in trying to figure out optimal recovery for my body.

    No. :blank:

I've called the office twice and have been promised a callback but have never heard anything about it. I will go there in person on Thursday if they give me the same treatment over the phone then. :curses:

Cessation of alcohol has been a big help, though. My sleep tracker is showing 5-6 hours of actual sleep between 10:30 pm and 6:00 am where it used to show 2-3. I'm feeling a lot more energetic, too.

these higher calories have me way hungry! all week i've been choosing to eat when i get home instead of drink a beer. my body is loving having enough nutrition!!!

both of my hamstrings were not quite recovered from tuesdays session. the left one was especially iffy. i played it really safe with the squats and then by the end of the workout they weren't bothering me at all.

    feeling amazing tonight. yay!

happy with that after a week of higher calories!

    saturday's workout:
    bb bsq: 90 x 6; 110 x 6; 130 x 3; 150 x 10, 10, 10, 10, 10

got lots of sleep this weekend. drank some beers and ate out a couple times but kept the damage relatively low. probably didn't get quite enough protein yesterday.

off today and going to go play disc golf and probably have a couple beers. nutrition will be good besides that. 5 days til vacation!

so there's point 50. the same day i finished this block of training. i was trying to really push the volume to try to figure out my mrv (max recoverable volume) but with these extra calories and loads of sleep this weekend i am feeling great. not even beat up in the joints. i have a rest day tomorrow and then will just smash a little more volume on thursday and friday. then it's onto vacation/deload week.

we are going to topsail island, nc. renting a beach condo with our friends from ohio. some much needed r&r. cannot wait!!

    bw was 138.4 this morning.

    one last workout before vacay:
    bb bp: 70 x 6; 90 x 6; 110 x 3; 120 x 10, 10, 9; 110 x 10; 90 x 12
    bb row: 100 x 12, 12, 12, 12
    inc bb bp: 90 x 12, 11
    some other random isolation work.

used a half a vacation day tonight so i could get off at 7:30p instead of midnight. we have to be at the airport at 330am so i figure this way i could get a few hours sleep.

out of town until wednesday. deloading until friday.

that's the end of this journal. i'll start a new one next week with some different goals.
