Macronutrients of an Egg

    Can someone please break down the macronutrients of an egg please...with and without the yolk. I promise I'm not lazy, just don't know where to look for info. I'm currently eating 8 (whites) as my protien source in the morning, and want to make sure i'm getting the proper nutrients. I read here not to long ago that the yolks aren't as bad for you as i thought. I've heard they are high in fat, but I think it was Jeremy that was saying they are beneficial as well. Thanks in advance!

    Anyway, I looked for you and: 1 large egg white (33g)

    From nutritiondata:
    Calories: 17
    Fat: 0g
    Carbs: 0g
    Protein: 4g

    1 large egg yolk (17g):
    Calories: 55
    Fat: 5g
    Carbs: 1g
    Protein: 3g

    As you can see, almost half the protein is in the yolk. Contrary to popular belief, the high rating for protein value that eggs have are WITH the yolk and the rating goes DOWN when you remove the yolk. Furthermore, yolks from grain fed and/or free range eggs contain healthy fats.

    I just had my yummy breakfast - 3 whole eggs + whole grain toast + raw organic peanut butter. Yum!

    My wife does 2 whole eggs + 2 eggs whites for her meals.

    Hey Jeremy, how do you cook your eggs? I am guessing poached in water is the best (read: healthiest) way to cook whole eggs?

    Boiled also qualifies.

    Personally, I fry mine up in coconut oil.

    Coconut oil is a bit controversial, but I come down heavily on the side of it being an extremely good cutting fat.

    Again, not being one to fear fats, etc, I typically take 3 whole eggs, add 1 tbsp of heavy whipping cream, then scramble them on the stove.

    I also fry eggs exclusively in coconut oil.
