Thanks, it was a fun time with good company. The couples were the couples we went to Spain with a year or so ago.

This morning was supposed to be a 5 mile run but that is not how I spent my morning.

My one dog got sprayed by a skunk last night right before I went to bed. We treated him with natures miracle skunk stuff odor removal and locked him in the laundry room. When my wife came to bed around 12:30, she woke me and made me get a shower as I smelled just from treating him. Honestly, I was having trouble sleeping from the odor but just thought it was permeating the house and didn't think it was on me. I woke around 4 then fell back to sleep until after 6. Once up, I had to treat the dog again then begin trying to air out the house.

I'm at work now and I still smell skunk. A little while ago I realized it was on my Garmin so I cleaned that. I'm not sure where the smell is coming from now. I don't smell it on my arms or clothes. Maybe it is in my hair.

Anyways, I spent my exercise time this morning dealing with this so no run today. I may see about slipping in a quick run this evening but I am not counting on it.

    Thanks.

It has't been fun. Several people at the office commented on my odor yesterday. Hopefully, I don't smell today.

Somewhat funny story. My wife had a chiropractor appointment yesterday. He refused to work on her because of the smell. She was extremely embarrassed and quite upset. She called me from her car crying and I was trying to calm her down by explaining its not her fault, its not a hygiene issue, its just something that happened, etc. She then said "I'm having a horrible day, I can't find my phone, I must have lost it somewhere." I replied, If you lost your phone how are you calling me? to which she let out an expletive. She was so upset about the chiropractor that she didn't realize she was on her phone.

    Workout B:

    Squat: 27.4 x 5 x 5
    OHP: 22.5 x 5 x 5
    Dead lift: 45 x 1 x 5

I got a chuckle about the chiropractor story although I also would not have been happy about not getting treated, not getting remedied, and having to make another appointment.

Regarding the phone issue this morning I spent at least a minute looking for my wallet while it was in my back pocket so I can empathize with your wife. Writing this to let her know, through you, that she's not alone.

I started with a 1 mile walk with the dogs. On the way back, I ran with them about a 1/4 mile. I'm going to keep doing this on my run days. On my lifting days we will only walk. My goal is to build them up to about a 1 mile run. I decided to do this to get them some extra exercise. I used to run with the one but had quit running with her several years ago.

Following the walk, I ran 3 miles on my own. Stats are 3.01 miles in 28:25 for an average pace of 9:26. This does not include the run with the dogs.

I didn't walk the dogs this morning but I did get my work out in.

    Workout A

    Squats 30 x 5 x 5
    Bench 25 x 5 x 5
    Rows 35 x 5 x 5

I also moved 2 more shipping skids over to my workout area so that I don't have to move the one in and out of my rack. The first shipping skid raised me up above the safeties while squatting. This allows my bench to be raised as well. The problem is that the safeties are now right at chest level when benching. Ideally they would be 1" higher. These skids are really solid with metal frames so I'm not worried about dropping my weights when dead lifting or rowing. I really should have done this sooner.

We are at the beach in Belmar / Spring Lake today. We parked in Spring Lake but are sitting on the beach in Belmar so we can have our cooler with us and eat lunch on the beach. I did my run on the boardwalk in spring lake this morning.

Stats are 3.5 miles in 31:03 for an average pace of 8:53. My pace was closer to 8:30 whiten I was runningb butI had to walk through the pavilions which surprisingly added more time than I would have thought.

That was a funny story. Is your wife going to go back to that chiropractor? I dropped plenty of people for much less. :)

She really likes this chiropractor so she will go back. My wife and I really did sleep like we were the ones sprayed by the skunk. The chiropractor concern was that he would get it on his hands and the other patients would complain. It wasn't personal.

I woke up this morning, made the run for my pulled pork, cleaned ashes from the ribs I smoked last night in the kamado, and got my pork but smoking. Afterwords I did my workout.

    Workout B

    Squat warmup: 20 x 5, 25 x 5 27.5 x 3
    Squats: 32.5 x 5, 5, 5, 5, 5

    Ohp warmup: 20 x 5
    OHP: 25 x 5, 5, 5, 5, 5
    Deadlifts: 50 x 5

We took the dogs to the park for a 2 mile walk. Now I'm in the middle of yardwork. It guests arrive at 4 for the pulled pork.

The pork came out really good. I used butcher paper instead of foil to wrap it once it stalled. I think it made for a better bark.

I was a party pooper last night. Around 9:45, I realized I was the only one who had to work today, so I said good night and went to bed. I understand, they stayed for another hour or so.

Mondays are scheduled rest days with yoga being optional. I had signed up for a class tonight. When I was almost done mowing yesterday, my main drive belt broke and the mower was stuck in the yard. I had just changed the belt last month. The old belt was in good condition so i kept it as a backup. I replaced the belt this evening and finished mowing instead of going to yoga. I switched to an aerial yoga class on Wednesday.

Started the day with walking the dogs for about 1 mile. We jogged briefly but maybe only 50 yards or so before my one dog stopped to sniff something. I then ran 4 miles. While on one section of road with a very wide shoulder I was about 2 feet away from the white line yet some idiot swerved onto the shoulder and nearly hit me. I had to jump out of the way. I'm not certain if it was on purpose or he was texting or what. It almost seemed deliberate. There are sections of the road with almost no shoulder where I expect close calls but not when the shoulder is almost a full lane wide.

Stats are 4.03 miles in 37:02 for an average pace of 9:12. One mile splits were 9:42, 9:12, 9:08, 8:47. If I ran further I would reach a 4 min mile .

I walked the dogs for a very short walk then did my workout. I paid for the upgraded stronglifts 5 x 5 app which includes warm ups and accessory exercises. It was about $20 for the year. The kicker though is he now does it as an annual automatic renewal so I need to remember to cancel once I am done running stronglifts. Part of the reason I upgraded is I am trying google fit. I found a program that syncs my garmin stuff to google fit. Stronlifts 5 x 5 and the app I use to book my yoga classes link directly to google fit. This gives me one location to view everything. Though I just get a high level view. To see the details of anything from Garmin, I still need to use the garmin app. The stronglifts came over in a little more detail. Maybe Garmin will decide to link directly to fit in the future.

    Workout A

    Squat Warm up: 20 x 5, 5
    Squat Main: 35 x 5, 5, 5, 5, 5
    Bench Warm up: none
    Bench Main: 27.5 x 5, 5, 5, 5, 5
    Row Warm up: none
    Row: 37.5 x 5, 5, 5, 5, 5
    Dips: bw x 7, 7, 7

Short walk with the dogs followed by a 3 mile run. My legs felt really heavy and it was not a fun run. Nothing hurt but my body just didn't want to move. The last mile or so wasn't bad but still didn't feel like my normal.

Stats are 3.00 miles in 28:17 for an average pace of 9:25.

That was from Tuesdays post. I told a little lie there. My dog don't stop to sniff. I realized she was having trouble running so I stopped. She had not been eating lately but we thought it was the new food so we tried a different food over the weekend which at first she ate. By Tuesday, she wasn't eating again. We went to the vet and learned she had a very high fever and was slightly anemic. The vet put her on antibiotics. Wednesday morning we went back to the vet and her fever was down but not gone. The blood work my vet did hadn't found the cause so she took more blood and sent it out. That came back Thursday am and showed that her anemia was worse but still no cause for the fever or anemia. I had to take her back to our vet Thursday where she confirmed the anemia result so she sent me to the emergency hospital and specialty clinic to be seen by an internal medicine specialist. They immediately admitted her. The ultrasound showed an enlarged spleen and liver so they took biopsies. They also took a bone marrow sample. The biopsies were negative but we are still waiting on the bone marrow results. Her bone marrow isn't making red blood cells. They think it's an autoimmune issue but won't know until the results are back. She had a full blood transfusion last night. Once the test results are back this morning they will start her on steroids and an immunosuppressant, if it isn't cancer.

Since it started when we had switched foods from the grain free diet due to the dcm news, we missed the big warning signs of not eating and lethargy. In fact, the morning walks and very short runs were for her trying to get her moving and eating and not for my warm ups.

    UPDATE:

I took my other dog for a 1 mile walk then I went to the park and ran two loops which is just under 7 miles. Stats are 6.74 miles in 1:12:29 for an average pace of 10:45.

I hope the issue with your dog turns out to be nothing serious. Good Luck.

    Thanks.

The good news is that it isn't bone marrow cancer. The bad news is that it is an autoimmune issue where her immune system is destroying the red blood cells that the bone marrow is producing. She should respond to the steroids and immunosuppressants therapy but I think she will need to be on them for the rest of her life just not as strong of a dose as she is current on.

    This morning was workout A.
