    I'm still trying to make time for exercise... Wanted to do double cardio but something always gets in the way.. excuses ..excuses.. :P

    Btw, I was watching Ask Dr Oz, the Oprah show and the Dr really acts like a saleman or rather he has that attitude 'round him. He and another guy wrote the book Staying young or something.... :confused:

    That rule of thumb is not that useful. If you look back over my entire journal you will see that I am building muscle pretty much the whole way through. I can lose fat too (I started out dropping over 50 pounds while building muscle), but I'm not normally interested in that.

    The real deal is to build up a huge exercise capacity and then you can do what you want with it.

    By the way it's pretty unusual to burn up muscle at all if you maintain a high exercise capacity unless you have done something stupid with your diet.

    Found a site on "bodybuiling.com# that calculates VO2 Max so I decided to test myself. I ran at 12kph for 15 mins (apparently 12 mins would have been enough, and easier). So now my VO2 Max stands at 42, if I can run for 12 mins at 12.5 kph it would be more like 45. Actually I`m not sure what it means yet.

    Anyway doing the test helped me burn the 230 cals.

    I'm trying to do more cardio this week but I've got it started on Thur and I missed my friday session.

    I've gained weight but my body fat % fluctuate at the same old ~34% . I guess the best way to cut/burn is to concentrate on the food right? I'm trying to go for more veg but I just bought pizza tpday (Sat), ate 3 slices. I'm going to do my cardio as plan though. I will try really hard these few months and see what results I got so that I can readjust my plan accordingly. (sounds like a good plan but the real trouble is sticking to it) :confused:

    Work Hard, Play Hard, Exercise Harder! (or Exercise = play?) :P

    Hi there. Good to see your update zen :D. Just recently joined a fitness club. My first intention of joining is to do more yoga to improve my concentration. However, after 1 session of yoga and body balance classes, I guess I prefer to sweat it out then the more subtle way of exercising. So I guess I'll be able to up my calorie expenditure in a few weeks time coz I'm having headache from flu right now. :P;)

    Counting calories spent during exercise is rather hard if one's not on a machine with calorie count meter. Most of the time I joined the yoga classes which doesn't really help in burning the calories and the cycling classes are done on bikes that have no calorie meters. Well, I guess I can always estimate :P but it won't be as accurate. :D:confused: Doing something is better than doing nothing! :p

    The most convient accurate way to measure exercise Calories is a heart rate monitor. You have to take a little care to make sure it has your correct weight, VO2max, and maximum heart rate, but then they are quite accurate.

    Hello Zen! You sure are consistent! I thought about getting a heart rate monitor but I guess I'll continue with the readings from the machines though it might not be as accurate. Will have to make effort to do more cardio or walking up the stairs (my nokia 5500 can act as pedometer :D) . Having said that I'll start climbing up the stairs for the workdays for this week and maybe light skipping while I'm surfing the internet :jumping: (not after eating of course)
