Hi all. Doesn't matter when you start, as long as the Calories spent on cardio exercises in a week adds up to 3500 Cal.

Why 3500 Cal? It's a Pound and it's everyone's own job to make sure that most of it comes from FATS!

Are you up to the challenge?

    Rules:
-The title of the post is the dates of the week that you're working on.

***I think we can juz post new message with the latest updates and the countdown calories. It would be more interactive :D

Awesome! I'm doing well too. I'd really been lowering my cardio too much for my body to have the results I want, so this is a great challenge to help motivate me to get my cardio back to where it was 6 months ago.

Hey Phitness. 50min is great!@-@ That is really discipline! And 700cal..wow..

My cardio max time at the moment is only 30min. Typical day 20min. And I dun think I'll be hitting the target this week but I'll do my best. I skipped my Wed cardio and weight exercise -_-". I jumped on the elliptical and it lasted for 5min & I tried again on stationary bike with the same amount of time. So the total is only 50+Cal!!

    Thursday I did the typical cardio 20min -- 163Cal

Friday-- I juz did my morning 20min cardio -- 158Cal

    Mon 23rd- Sun 29th Apr 2007

    Mon(x) Tue(x) Wed(x) Thur(x) Fri Sat Sun

    2349 Cal to go!!!

    Hi 3rdto1st. Hi zenpharaohs.

I'm speechless! It seems that stationary bike is such a calorieless equipment. But the impressive part is the length of time you all took to do the exercise. WOW... I'm inspired.

Hey zenpharaohs. Soz to say that weightlifting is not part of the cardio family. hehe

And 3rdto1st, rowing sounds like a great fun thing to do!

One thing to keep in mind is that phitness and I are pretty big guys, and 3dto1st is not that small either. (Hey 3dto1st, looks like you are exactly at the upper limit for a lightweight rower, right?)

Your ability to burn Calories is increased by your weight of muscle. So in relative terms it is easier for us to put in the big Calories.

If we made the number of Calories to burn to be proportional to our body weights, it would be a bit of a different story.

It is! Which is one reason I do it. About eight of those sets will be 1000 Calories.

Note that the step ups are very low impact.

Hey zenpharaohs. That's a good point.. doing weight can get the heart rate up as well.

I did better! Wow today it's 349Cal in 35min. I changed my cardio strategy. Still doing interval training but spent longer time at the faster speed. I looked at the calorie countdown to inspire myself to go faster. The ticking up is not as motivating as the downward direction, at least to me.

Well one more day to the new whole week. And a few more day to the John's 100pt challenge.

Hope everyone is doing well. Life's up and down like bodyfats haha.

By the way if you are doing intervals, then you would probably be happy to find that the Calories you are burning in the workout may be much less then the Calories you are burning dut to the workout.

When you do steady state cardio at moderate or low intensity, then the Calories you burn during the workout are pretty much all you burn. As soon as you stop, the heart rate returns quickly to a normal level and you are no longer burning extra Calories.

But when you do intense exercise, even in intervals, then for quite a while after the workout the body burns extra Calories, and it fuels them with fat. I did a test of that about a year ago.

The extra Calories that are burned after the workout stops are called "Excess Postexercise Oxygen Consumption" or EPOC. You don't get it from low intensity exercise, and you get a lot of it from high intensity exercises. It's the main fat burning reason to avoid the "fat burning zone".

Why are you going to cut after training for a marathon? Are you actually gaining fat on your marathon training?
