I think the challenge explains itself. I let myself put on too much weight finishing my PhD thesis and now I can't stands it.

Do you have 20 pounds to lose? Well let's race. Anyone needing to lose 20 pounds or more join in. It will probably take about 12 weeks to do it. Joiners of the challenge should start this week. No more challengers after this Friday at midnight. After we get some people we'll post our plans of how we are going to do it.

Then we'll race to lose 20 pounds. Of course I want it to be mostly fat, so I will be tracking my weight measurement, and perhaps tracking my body fat %.

    Current stats:

    Body weight: 193.8 lbs
    Waist: 39.25 inches

I'm in. I weighed in this morning at 275. I have my first 10K in a little less than 2 months, so I'm hoping to at least be below 260 by then.

Alright we have some challengers. Thanks for joining me guys. I am psyched to get started. It is important for us to get some momentum going, for those of us who weren't currently dropping fat, it will be hard to get started, at least it always is for me. Especially since my in-laws have come for an impromptu two night visit, which will make a normal eating plan hard

    But I am determined

I didn't expect that, some of you might kick ass on the water weight. I'll need to get a move on.

    Yep...sounds good.

I think this is exactly what I needed...240...to 220....my goal is 210...and ten lbs shouldn't be that hard after that.

Count me in. 20 pounds would be great. I'll post my official start weight tomorrow - but I'm thinking it will be about 251. I'll make my goal an even 230 pounds.

Does the winner get a Costa Rican vacation?!

I think that I should have chugged a gallon or two of water before my first weigh-in

Ok, did my weigh in this morning.

    Current: 202.8
    Goal: 182.8

    can I do it? :scared:

....that would make me about a pound smaller than I've ever been! (well, in recent history )

That would be great. I'm pretty much in the same boat. If I hit 255, that will be a few pounds less than when I lost weight on BFL (I barely cracked into the 250's) about 5 years ago.

maybe we should all post a "real" start weight once GH figures out our rules and such? Otherwise, latecomers into the challenge will be behind those who started yesterday.

Okay, I think I might want to play. I've been trying to get myself kick-started, too-- I just finished the first year of my PhD and have put on about 20 pounds that I don't want. Time to get rid of them!

OK, I think I am ready to join my first challenge. 20lbs is perfect. I weigh myself most every morning and I was 216 this morning. I will weigh again tomorrow and use the avg. as my start weight. Either way I need to get under 200 for the first time in who knows how long. Ill use the measuring tape also and post those. GLTA
