I started my first transformation on January 18, nine years ago. And it is not news that things have been pretty shitty over the last 4 years. The stress of job searching coupled with what I am now understanding is a pretty hefty food addiction have caused me to gain, lose and gain many times. I've been able to manage the stress recently, now that I have a fulltime job, that I am happy to go to everyday. I don't want to be this big. So much in my life would be improved if I can return to the weight that I was back in 2004 and maintained for 5 years.

I know that I am only 6 months away from getting back to that point. So I've decided to use myself for motivation and have a race. If the me from 9 years ago could do it, I can do it. My life is kind of similar to back then. Being in a startup has similar job requirements and schedule to grad school. In some ways I am in a better situation, I have a weight set and treadmill at home. There is simply no reason to keep me from a workout.

The present me has a few days head start, which I will need because I am a few pounds heavier. I'll be tracking myself on the same graph. The red data is me 9 years ago and the blue data is me this year. I can't wait to kick my own ass.

edit: I decided to keep updating this first post with new graphs as well.

    Thanks chico.

Took my waist measurement. Why don't we have a hang head in shame emoticon, because it's the one that I would use right now. Largest waist I have ever seen. 43.5 inches at the widest point, which is pretty much the navel. I think I was maybe 41 or 42 inches nine years ago. I have a lot of waist data, I should put that together over the many years.

Second day of incline walking, tonight I am going for a light weightlifting workout.

Did a light weight lifting workout last night. The first one in 8 months. Was pretty much just going through the motions, but I still think I will be sore later today and tomorrow morning.

Trailing slightly behind my younger self so far.

So I was pretty sore yesterday from the weights, but it was just the perfect amount of soreness to feel good about.

My head start has run out but I am not too far behind. Feeling good.

Damn you younger me! setting the bar so high, I mean low. I need to step it up.

Went for 8 degrees on the incline walking today, been doing just 4. 8 is a huge difference.

Looks like you are doing great. And I seriously think your graphs of "then and now" are really cool. Nicely done!!! :tucool:

Thanks for the encouragement DD and DN.

I don't mind if I am trailing my younger self, just as long as I keep him in sight. I'm back below 210. Now on the way to 200. Have not been below 200 since march of last year.

    Read this article http://deadspin.com/5978620/you-have-to-work-out-to-get-a-workout
It makes one good singular point on challenging yourself more with workouts, but goes about it in the usual blog style, of insult your reader, than try to sarcastically sway them to your point, but then unfortunately offer no concrete alternative plan that they can emulate. Page views acquired. moving on!

    Excellent analysis!

I think your "self-challenge" will be an excellent self-motivator. Yep, used self twice within 10 words. Doesn't change the point.

Working out so far Silver :tucool:

Weekend went well Chicanerous. Travelled to Philly for a sixers game with the family, this can typically be a derailing event. But I did well.

I made sure that I got my cardio in Friday morning and weights on Friday night, as I wouldn't be able to workout Saturday or Sunday.

On Saturday, we had a pregame lunch/dinner at a sports bar near the stadium. Ate my usual healthy breakfast before.

    Things I ate after that:
grilled chicken sandwich with avacado and bacon
A few chips, but left the rest on my plate
    A few chicken wings
A few forks of chocolate cake
    3 beers

Things I did not eat that sat in front of me:
    Onion rings
    Cheesesteak springrolls
    more chocolate cake
    cheesecake

At the game, I ate the last few bites of a protein bar, and nothing else, nor any beer.

So not perfect, but instead of feeling like crap by the end of the day, I felt great. We'll see any damage tomorrow.

    Thanks Seltzer.

Not so bad, got my first uptick, just barely. I'll take it.

Those little ups often lead to nice downs afterward. Well done on navigating and potentially awful weekend, fitness and food wise.

Thanks guys. Kind of weird if you look at the two graphs the up swing is occurring at the same place. I wonder if this is some sort of pattern. I hope so, because I'm going the wrong way.

Maybe I'm eating too much salt? Been having a sushi roll the last two days with a packet of soy sauce. I think I'll cut that out.
