I am actually feeling fine today. My ultrasound and labs were normal. Next up is a HIDA scan. Maybe all I needed was some warm weather and yard work?

More gardening/yard work today. Put a thermometer in the green house. It hit 100 degrees in there today despite it being in the 60's. Curious to see how warm it gets in the winter.

Not used to this warm weather. I lift in my garage and we have had a long, cold winter. I made the mistake of wearing sweat pants and a long sleeve shirt. Time for shorts, I guess.
Was shooting for every minute on the minute for squats but they got away from me a little, partially because I am such a slow squatter that I sometimes ended up with less than 20 seconds between sets. At least nothing hurt, although my knees were crackly.

Maybe everyone will get sick of social media and forums will make a comeback?

My knees get more and more crackly as I get older

I'm fine with crackly as long as they don't hurt at this point. :jk0:

Myoreps are feeling a little stale so I'm throwing in more straight sets. Or I'm just bored.

Is that 25 sets of 4 chin-ups, or 4 sets of 25? or 4 reps with 25# added?

25 sets of 4. I have a stupid goal of doing 10,000 this year. I've been doing 25 sets of 4 twice per week lately to hit my quota for the week. It doubles as the majority of my "pull" workouts.

Went to the rheumatologist for a followup today. I was diagnosed with a connective tissue disorder last year, which is why I have been lifting so light lately. Also why I have been training quad dominant lifts after hamstrings and calves. On the bright side, no joint pain lately. Resting heart rate was 49 today despite doing zero cardio. I guess the chinups are kinda cardio at this point, in order to tie this post together.

That's a really low resting heart rate, especially considering you're not doing any dedicated cardio.

The Nurse Practitioner said "you must be a runner". Kinda curious to know what my heart rate would be if I actually did cardio.

Got a script to check my vitamin D level. It was pretty low 6 months ago and I have been supplementing with 2000iu of D3 since then. Hopefully I am in therapeutic range now. Will try to get to a lab after work tomorrow.

    4/11
    Bench@125: 15+4,4,4,4,4

    Lateral raise: 4x12x10
    Pushup: 16+5,5,5,5,5

Managed to lift 6 days this week. Usually only get 5.

A resting hr in the 40's is really low. Wow.

It's not unheard of in endurance circles to have a resting heart rate in the 30's :)

    4/13
Chin-up 25 sets of 4, every minute on the minute
    Curl 3x10x65, 3x10x55

Chins have felt more difficult the past two sessions. I wonder if it's a recovery issue.

Went for a short hike with my wife and dogs earlier today. Then took a nap. Riveting.

    Bench: 2x10x125, 8x125
    Lateral raise @10: 20, 18, 15
    Curl: 3x10x55
    French Press: 3x10x55
Went pretty fast between sets. Thought I would break up the chinups between 4 sessions instead of 2. That turns into 4 upper body sessions per week.

My vitamin D is now in therapeutic range. Cool.

What is a French press? I'm only familiar with the coffee version. :)

It's a type of tricep extension where the weight starts overhead with arms locked out and is lowered behind the head. I do mine standing with a barbell. It's my favorite tricep exercise. And by favorite, I mean it doesn't hurt my elbows and I can actually feel it in my triceps.

    4/16
    Chinup: 10x5xbw
    OHP: 5x10x65
    Pushup: 4x12xbw
    Curl: 4x10x55
First time overhead pressing in a long time. Decided to start with an embarrassingly light weight.

I think if you were to do a French Press lying down it would be what you might call a Skullcrusher.

Yep, skulls and all of their variations. These have always made my elbows more sore than my triceps, unfortunately. Some people absolutely love them, though.

I am going to take a few classes this summer. Already miss having this much free time.

Resting too much between sets and moving slowly. RDLs felt better than last time, though. Lunges did not feel great.

Got a call from the doctor's office. No gallstones, but some motility issues per the HIDA scan. Wants me to go see a surgeon. :blank: I am not interested in surgery at this time, especially since it doesn't appear to help 30-50% of the time per the literature and there is a chance that it might resolve on its own. Ima just try to control it with diet for the time being and plan on seeing a motility specialist. Dietitians make the worst patients.

Life factors have kept me away from lifting since the 17th.

Yesterday I did some trail work at the park. A few hours of loading a wheelbarrow with wood chips, walking it down the trail, and dumping it out.

Earlier today I put together 4 bookcases and then rearranged furniture.

    4/21
    Chin-up 10×5×bw
    Bench 3x10x130, 3x10x115
    French press @ 55 11, 10, 10
    Curl @ 55 11, 10, 10
    Maybe I should make progress
