fish oil - dosage?

    just got my fish oil caps today -- the recommended dose on the bottle is a little vague

    1-2 caps 2-3 times a day ---- that could be between 2 and 6 caps a day



    300mg omega-3 fish oil caps - purified


    any advice is appreciated


    i weigh 216 - i do a modified 5x5 with heavy weights - and eat about 3,000 calories a day (250 below my BMR)

    I use Swanson Super EPA and Swanso Krill Oil
    morning and night Super EPA 1 softgel each
    Noon Krill 1 softgel

    Swanson's Super EPA is 1000mg 300mg EPA and 200mg DHA and something like $6.90 per 90 softgel's

    Excess DHA/EPA may cause excessive bleeding in certain individuals. If you are having 3-4, 6 oz servings of fish per week (salmon, albacore tuna, mackerel, lake trout) extra fish oil is unnecessary. Otherwise, 3-6 capsules per day would be perfectly OK to take. I always advise the whole food version over supplements. There is also no evidence pointing that taking extra fish oil will accelerate fat loss. If you have no fish in your diet, you can take all 6 capsules at breakfast, or divide them any way you like.

    i have been taking 2 a day after breakfast

    i don't like eating fish -- but i try to eat it once a week

    maybe i should add an additional one for lunch
