Are you planning on "racing" it, or are you just going to use it as another 3 mile run? When I did my first 5k, I got caught up in adrenaline and rush of starting and went out way too fast. I had to stop and walk about 2 miles in for a couple hundred yards.

    170 + 5 = 175

I am going to start at my normal pace and then try to pick up someone running a little faster than me to keep up with. I used to run cross country in high school, so I have an idea about going out too fast. If I were to go out too fast and really crash in the last mile, then I will just call it a learning experience. My expectation is to run faster than I normally run since it will be running with a group rather than alone.

On a side note, I lifted lower body on Wednesday at lunch time, after running at 5:30am. This forced me to move my rest day, which is normally saturday, to yesterday, since I could barely walk after doing squats. I really had to push myself to get out of bed this morning and go run since I am still suffering from the soreness. I was proud of myself after the run that I completed it, even though my legs were completely dead.

i have the same problem with leg work. did heavy legs on monday, didnt even try on tuesday a normal run day...too much glute stuff going on. wed hard rain, thursday heavy gym day. so i missed a run this week because of it. i told the trainer i'm not doing the leg curls anymore. they kill mee. anything compound on the legs, i'm ok. but single joint stuff is getting in the way of the schedule. i'm glad you got the run done. i couldn't.

    178 + 6 = 184

ate a bad thing this week
