I don't know about you but my back sticks out further than my chest on my side profile.

I guess that is what happens when you are deadlifting 575 pounds!

Your back muscles stick out further than your rib cage and pecs? A 45" chest should have have some depth, look again. Guess with 575lb deadlift, you must have a big back, have you shown us back anywhere?

I might point out all bodybuilders aren't weak by any means. A number of Mr. Americas and Mr. Universes have been champion weightlifters. Some known for strength were Grimeck, Viator, Oliva, and Coleman are examples.

Here is a good example, David Mastorakis, At 15, he was youngest person to enter the IFBB Mr. America contest. At bodyweight of 165llbs he squatted with 450 lbs, Bench press of 330 lbs , a military press of 235lbs, cleaned 200 lbs for 35 times.

Both bodybuilding and powerlifting are infested with drugs. Powerlifters are using street drugs to assist performance along with anabolic drugs. So bodies have help in both sports but strength shows through.

It is true that a powerlift has never been popular in bodybuilding for some reason while a great number of other multi-joint exercises are. I have never heard why. I don't think from lack of strength. It really seems to be in Vogue now.

And then there's always this aspect of deadlift aesthetics -- the totally bruised and butchered shins and knees. Mine today:

    +1

Amd this is clearly a shot from a dorm room. You've only just begun! You're going to clean everyone's clock.

And not just physically, your CNS gets a workout on heavy deads. Can definitely put yourself on the floor with deadlifts.

My name is Al, and I'm a deadaholic.

This is an interesting thread indeed.

I have wondered myself a few times what dead lifts actually do for mass. Whilst pondering, I came across various comments on various forums and came to the conclusion that they just help you to get huge. I certainly know they make me feel rather massive afterwards! :p

Should we expect a back like this soon?! (Dave Gulledge courtesy of http://www.t-nation.com):
