    Good luck with that. Here's hoping.

    How many have you done so far? I've put at least two dozen in, but it's always the same damn story. Either "we received over 300 applications for this position," or "we're in a hiring freeze right now." :mad:. The first phrase is especially frustrating, because these are just menial hourly positions like cashiers or warehouse inventory.

    :dance::spaz:

    Nice going. So what, one more thing to go then? The exam? You're almost home free. :cool:

    I've sent out four for jobs in the field I really want to go into and about six or seven inquiries for other positions that would simply pay the bills. Those six or seven inquiries weren't in response to posted job openings but I just figured I'd ask. Usually I didn't even get an answer.

    EDIT: I just saw that somebody is looking for a herder to look after cows up in the mountains over the summer. Job description includes milking the cows and making butter and cheese in the traditional fashion. That actually sounds kind of awesome. :dreamy:

    Yeah, it's just the exam now.

    Thank you!

    Thanks, Allen :).

    Yes. You should know that this is a vast conspiracy to keep you from reading it while disseminating it to the rest of the world :nod:.

    Thanks! I'm very happy with the result. I put a lot of work and planning into it and it's paid off.

    Awesome; you should totally do this. You will never have the chance again. :nope:

    Good that you can finally relax about your thesis. Congrats on the A. How frustrating about all that waiting.

    Thanks, fellow bikini babes :). I don't think I'm actually going to apply for the cow herder job :lol:. I don't think I'd do very well at it and I couldn't live without the Internet for five whole months :eek:. If I get really desperate I might change my mind.

    I overheard this absolutely classic conversation between two students in our dorm kitchen today. They're both overweight and one of them is obese; she must weigh about 250 lbs. They were discussing weight loss, exercise and healthy eating. The obese one was flabbergasted that when she went for a check-up recently she was put at 50% body fat - the way she said it almost made it sound like she was proud of it, like it was some kind of badge of honor. She then went on to say that she'd talked to a dietician and the dietician wanted her to eat two whole potatoes (in whatever context, I assume as a carb serving) but how on Earth was she supposed to eat two whole potatoes?! That was just way too much for her and would make her feel stuffed and like throwing up. :rolleyes: She mentioned that she was going to start running again once the temperatures got warmer (I'm sure her joints will thank her later). Then the other one, who's overweight, explained her everyday diet: breakfast is coffee and a cigarette, then nothing the whole morning, then a huge lunch consisting of white pasta and tomato sauce... At that point I stopped listening, finished cooking my dinner and hightailed it out of there. What makes the story even better is that some time ago I overheard the obese student commenting on how "disgusting" defined muscles were in women.

    While I was listening to the conversation I was trying not to :rolleyes: too much and had to keep myself from :bang:.

    I wonder if they were oblivious to the perfect example that was right next to them. If they did notice you and what you ate, I wonder what they were thinking. "She's lucky," "She just has good genes," etc.

    As opposed to ginormous tuck shop lady arms? It really grinds my gears when someone says that :mad:

    Thanks :).

    I realize I came off as a bit of a bitch posting that - it's not that I routinely make fun of fat people. What got me was the disdain with which they spoke about clean eating, exercise and most of all athletic looking women. It's not like they would be able to tell that I embody that lifestyle they so clearly considered beneath them since I don't run around the dorm in a bikini and with my clothes on I look pretty ordinary.
