    Good luck tomorrow!

My younger brother flew up to Nashville this weekend and ran the Country Music Marathon today. His goal was to run under 4 hours, but he came up a little short at 4:24:13. Because this was his first marathon, he said the time didn't really bother him. Just completing the race was the most important thing to him. I'm really proud of him for accomplishing his goal.

Inspired by this, I decided to run a half-marathon today. I ran the first 8 miles in accordance with my regular training schedule, and then walked/ran the remaining 5.1 miles. My time wasn't spectacular, but like my brother, I think it was more about simply completing the distance. I can worry about setting PR's when I have a few more of these under my belt.

    235.3 + 13.1 = 248.4

Congrats on the half marathon. My run/race went well. 37:30 overall. I ran with a friend the first 26 minutes and then took off on my own when she puttered out for a while.

    Mile 1: 10:30
    Mile 2: 20:00
    Mile 3: 29:30
    Mile 4: 37:30

    248.4 + 4 = 252.4

Congrats to everyone and their long runs. I continue to poke around and deal with home improvement and snow. (But I'm still here.)

    258 + 3 = 261

Congrats on your half mary. I ran my first marathon in November and felt the same way your brother did; finishing was more important than time. I have another one this coming weekend and feel pretty much the same way, but it would be nice to run it faster than the first one. It's not likely though.

That's a nice strong progression and an 8 minute last mile is very impressive.

    Every bit counts RemmoSi.

    261 + 9 = 270.

    270 + 3.4 = 273.4

This will probably be my final run before my marathon on Sunday although I may go out for a short one on Thursday.

    Thanks!

Thanks! Way to go on your 4 miler as well! Finishing every mile faster than the previous is pretty damn impressive if you ask me. It means you got stronger as the race went on. Nice work! :tucool:

    Thanks! I'm ready for another!

Good luck on your marathon, Seltzer. By the way, which one are you running in?

    274.9 + 6.5 = 281.4

Sounds like fun. Running right next to the beach should be nice!

    287.4 + 6.1 (in the rain again :bang: ) = 293.5

Thanks. Forty hours and nine minutes until the starting gun.

Yeah, there will be some nice scenery and part of the route goes by houses that are insanely large so they should be interesting to look at.
