Already in this one after this morning... but I'll have to participate in leg press only because for me the V squat is knee tendinitis waiting to happen.

Are we talking a single leg press or a solid 8-10 set?

I may just have to go to the gym to work legs BEFORE badminton, I can usually put up about 600 lbs single legged after playing, so double legged before I can do some damage :D

Wait are we just talking how many can we do? As in, your normal reps x sets.

So if I do 5 x 10 at a reasonable weight that counts for 50...right?

So, I've got a dilemma. I tried out some V-squats today and I have no clue how much the 'bar/sled' weighs. The machine is this one and bears no marking identify any type of weight.

In the meantime, I'll just add my sets with just the plates I added. These were a strange experience, btw. I had trouble sorting out how low to go since the foot pedestal is angled. Do I go low enough to have the top of my thighs parallel to the ground or am I shooting for an angle smaller than 90 degrees at the knee?

I also had trouble adjusting to the movement itself. I couldn't find a way to keep the weight on my heels like I would on a squat. I figure this is a function of the angled platform and just went with it. It does feel awkward to be pushing that type of weight with my calves involved at that level. I guess I'll adjust eventually.

    In any event...

    6x90
    5x180
    5x270
    5x360

    (all sets +sled weight)

A question on leg press, too. Are we talking about this sort of thing:

    or this:

The second one is closer to a squat motion in that the back of it hinges and the whole machine sort of rocks as you do your reps lying down. It is the only plate loaded leg press machine my gym has. The other will not come close to the weights in this challenge(I think they only go slightly higher than 300 lbs).

    Just curious...

My squat stance does not translate well to the V squat machine either... I never have sore knees with a BB but the VS just kills mine for some reason.

Oddly enough, I did feel a bit of a tweak on a couple of the sets. I was unsure of what the whole thing was supposed to look/feel like, really. Oh well.. of to youtube to try and sort out the correct posture/form.

the best translation would be the smith machine hack squat

the hammer strength v-squat machine at my gym has a 54pound sled

i couldn't see the pics of the leg press machine

Fixed the links for those pics. I guess I could add 50 pounds to those numbers... I took a look on youtube and I think my foot placement was wrong for starters. If I had them up higher on the platform, further away from my body, I could probably push from the heels. I also am noticing that most people are going only as low as parallel to the ground. I may be able to add a significant amount of weight for these if that is the way to do them...

An extra 50lbs on a V-Squat seems about right since my V-squat "sled?" is 54lbs also. Did you look all around the machine for a label? I thought my leg press didn't have a label, but I did finally find it... if I had been a couple inches shorter, I would have had no shot at seeing it as it was on top of one of the metal bars.

We all know I'm cool just calling it by plates, but... ;)

    Man! Things that suck:

    4/29
    V-squat
    5x360+sled (54lbs)

    So
5x414 - we have a 3 way tie unless someone else posts higher from tonight backwards.

Wish I'd have just thrown on a freaken quarter instead of two more plates... I would have definitely gotten another set with 439... I hate I remembered the numbers incorrectly and gave you guys too much credit
