I've decided 2009 is going to be the year of big squats, and I want to hit a goal of double bodyweight for at least 1 rep.

    All Time Best: 135kg @ 90kg = 1.5

I have some ways to go.

I'd love to get involved although I can't see it happening this year. By the time I'm strong enough to actually do this I'll be looking at squatting 200kg+ :blank:

You'll get there if you bulk, and then do a cut and preserve strength, which is totally doable. :tucool:

My current max is way short of what it has been. Right now I reckon 110 would be a struggle. :o

I squatted 420# when I weighed about 204#. I have never maxed my squat. To get twice bodyweight now I'd have to squat more like 440#.

Alright, looks as though Smolov payed off.

    Full Squat: 380@195 bodyweight

*Might have had it in me, but I'll save 390 for later.

    I got 345 at BW of 240....that's only 1.4375...

I doubt I'll ever squat over 400 in my lifetime...these rep x BW things suck for tall guys...

    Great challenge though....

Is it lame to quote my own quote? Ha!

Anyway, hit 390 last night at my current weight of 194.

How in the heck did you jump thirty-five pounds in that short of time?

Good question! Should probably explain the backstory here...

During my previous strength/bulk cycle I was squatting more than 355. At that time, which was at least 8 month ago, I hit a PR of 375 for one rep. I then went on a cut and my strength progression stalled, as it usually does, and it took several weeks of bulking to get back to that strength level.

So really I've added 15 pounds to my squat in about 8 months!

I should be here before too long. Right now I'm at around 225lbs or 240lbs (the scale says 225lbs, but I think I'm actually closer to 240lbs), and my squat is in the low 400s. I should be in the low 200lbs body weight range in June, and my squat should hopefully be at least 450lbs by then, so I think I'm on the right track.
