Since there is a 500 and a 400 Squat Club i figure i add a 225 Squat Club. Granted Its not as Badass as 400 or 500 but i still think its an achievement.

My current 1RM is at 200lbs well below parellel. I Have about 4 more weeks left on this workout routine then i will try going for 225 cant wait.

Ya can't reach 300 without 225, or 400 without 300. I'm sure there are plenty of people on the site that'll be joining the club.

I've been stuck at 205# for one rep max on parallel squat for months. Goal is 225# by age 52 (November).

Is this challenge parallel / just below, or do you mean thigh to calf??

The best I've ever done is 205# but I'm only doing 185# right now. This will give me something to shoot for.

This was a rather short-lived challenge. Did all those who posted in this thread make it into the 225 club?

Anyone else not yet ready for the 300,400 or 500:eek: squat clubs?

Hoping to hit 225 by the end of March

    Current best:

    74kg(162lb)x5

Well, my dad just got a 235 parallel squat this past weekend to finish off his time in this challenge.

I should have gotten a video of it. I'll be the first to preach that one shouldn't tell me, show me.

I have to hold my hand up and admit that my 225 was not legit

When my gym installed mirrors last year I was shocked and more than a little embarrassed to discover how shallow I was squatting

But I haven't been idle in the meantime - I've rebuilt my squat from the ground up so I'm once again chasing 225 but this time with a minimum depth of parallel

    Here what I did tonight:

    4x3, 1x1 132lbs

I've only just returned to the back squat so I'll attempt maxing it out in a few weeks

    Heres what I did today:

    Squat:

    5x3 62.5kg (137lbs)

I'm adding weight and volume slowly so that I keep squatting to a proper depth. I felt my form was good today and the bar sat comfortably on my back. The weight wasn't especially challenging so I tried to compensate by going deeper

I maxed my front squat a while back which was 70kg (155lbs)

With that in mind I'd like a Back Squat 1rm of 75kg-80kg (165-185) when I test it in a few weeks

I have found myself making much better progress doing a 8-12 reps than when I was doing Westside for Skinny Bastards with the 3-5 reps. Perhaps due to having more slow-twitch fibers? I also use a form that is closer to powerlifter than olympic. I seem to be stronger in the posterior chain and could use more quad strength. It sounds like with your front squat where it is you should hit your goal on back squat.

Well there are many possible reasons for this but if you find that you like it then stick with it

Theres no harm in that. We're both tall guys so I don't think widening the stance to compensate for a more difficult time squatting is a bad thing

Thats one off-shoot of having a wide stance squat - you don't use you quads as much in the movement. Maybe some unilateral leg work would solve this?

I actually tested it 2 weeks ago and came up with an 80kg (176lbs) back squat. I have some irritating limiting factors on my workouts atm but I'd like to complete a 225 BSQ some time in the autumn and maybe a 225 FSQ before the year is out

    I squatted 3x5 @ 220 tonight.

    I'm assuming I could do 225 for one :D

Count me in. I'm going to keep pushing towards 300 with serious intensity over the next 5-6 weeks or so.
