Default RSS Feeds?

Hi John!

Thanks a ton for the site...I was wondering if you had ever thought of adding RSS Feeds to the site at all?

Cheers!
Mike

You're welcome! Thanks for supporting it.

RSS is something I'll be looking into, but nothing's certain yet.

Done. Sorry it took so long, it went completely off my radar.

Those of you who want to test it please do so. I'll make a permanent link once I know everything is working:

Can someone explain in a nutshell what RSS is? I've seen it a lot but I don't see the use. To me it basically seems like unencoded HTML

We're talking about RSS 2.0 ("Really Simply Syndication")

I read the link, but that just seemed to make it even more confusing.

Basically it's a way to get a real-time feed of the newest threads on JSF. You need an RSS reader to decipher the XML. There are many free ones available on the web.

Thanks, John. I'll be putting this on my web portal (http://portal.jk0.org). If you want to see how it looks feel free to check it out.

Very cool, that probably explains what it does better than anything I could write!

I've added shiny new RSS and XML icons to the bottom of the forums. Each one will take you to the expected feed. I think Firefox will automatically detect the RSS feed.

www.google.com/reader

works like a charm, ah google is there nothing you can't do for me?

VERY cool feature, I dig it.

edit: err...well...once i get comfy with it it'll be cool, googles reader is (like many of its new services) still in Beta, but once you read a little on feeds you'll get the hang of it.

Would be nice if you could publish your daily updates in RSS, I could then just read the feed and not eat up all your bandwidth getting the same images every day.

Regards

Tony

They should be in cache if you visit the site that often.

Google has an awesome feature for personalized home pages. www.google.com/ig
That way you can have access to all your familiar bookmarked pages, stock quotes, mail inbox, rss links and forum threads from anywhere.
