Default How Guilty Should I Feel?

Occassionally I binge drink. This usually occurs about once a month when I go out with friends. It just so happens that this past weekend I went out with friends. Here is what I had, in order:

4 shots of jagermeister
1 Miller Lite
5 Red Bull & Vodkas

I didn't eat anything bad (no pizza, chips, etc.) and I danced the whole time (about 5 hours).

Are these kinds of nights the Devil? Or there is little reason for concern?

I'm 25, 6 feet tall, 168 pounds and working on initial fat loss.

Thumbs down Guilty!

4 shots of jagermeister = 103 calories each
1 Miller Lite = 97 calories
5 Red Bull & Vodkas - a shot of vodka is 97 calories, and red bull is 13 calories per ounce

So, I'd estimate you drank a minimum of 900 calories in alcohol alone, not counting however much red bull goes into each mixed drink.

You danced the whole time, so I'd say that between the alcohol and the exertion, you're pretty well dehydrated.

Well, if you think eating 4 snickers bar in a row aren't any problem...

At 6 foot, 168 pounds it's not like I can't have a cheat day here and there.

If doing this once a month helps you keep on track then no it is not a problem and you shouldnt feel guilty. Some people need a cheat meal some need to get retarded with their friends. Drinking is much worse for you but once a month is most likly better than what you were doing before you diet. Your one night used to be my everynight. Now I limit it such as you.

Alright then! Just plan for it.

i heard tht alcohol calories are "empty" calories, but I'm not really sure what that means... Does that mean that they don't stick? Anyone?

Default Empty calories

Empty calories mean that they do not contain any "good" calories, as in calories the body are in use of. There are calories in just about everything we put in our body except from water, but as for the calories in a balanced diet with carb's, proteins and fat that we need to survive, there are no calories in the alcohol that the body needs to do it's "survival job". In other words, drinking alcohol means that we fill our body with calories it doesn't use. i do believe this is because of the large content of sugar in alcohol. Sugar are empty calories. (Sorry, a bit hard to explain in simple words in English. I hope you understand...)

And another killer; Whatever we eat is burned before the body starts thinking of burning the calories from the alcohol..... The alcohol always go last, if it doesn't store

Dont worry about it mate, its good to let your hair down every now and then.

Now just forget about it and get back to your program as if it never happened.

I wouldn't sweat it dude. I like a good binging session now and then as well. Once a month, I would say, is not really anything to worry about. Look at it this way, If you enjoy that night out, why sacrifice it. we all want to feel better, thats why we are on this site. If you look at your healthy lifestyle as a sacrifice of things you truely enjoy you are not going to stick with it. Moderation in all things bro.
I like to go out and hear live music. So does my wife. We also enjoy a good alcohol buzz (I ain't gonna lie to ya) I used to drink like a viking when I was younger, but now I don't need it so often. Why should I give that up once in a while? Have fun. Just watch your frequency.
