Default Falafel Waffles

Falafel is nutritious, but often deep fried and loaded with fat

With a non-stick waffle iron, you can cut out 95% of the fat.

Mix 1 cup of falafel mix with approximately one cup of water, until a slightly runny consistency is achieved. Add approximately 1 tbsp of olive oil to help stop the mixture from sticking and round out the flavour. Cook your falafel waffles like you would regular waffles, but let them go for about 30 seconds longer than normal. If you open the waffle iron too early, they will split apart.

This much mixture should make about 4 regular sized waffles.

Note: Premade falafel mix has a lot of salt and preservatives. If you want a healthier alternative, you can make your own falafel mix by pureeing chickpeas, garlic and parsley together.

Falafel Waffles?
That sounds really weird. I like weird things though, so maybe I'll give it a shot.

My falafel recipe makes balls about the texture of meatballs, which I think would be very difficult to pour into a waffle iron. I guess I'd have to add a considerable amount of water to them.

Also, I don't have my waffle iron here. Does it cause different results than just frying in a nonstick pan? Perhaps I could make falafel pancakes?

Anyone ever had any success in baking falafel?
