Default How many calories...?

Hi,
I'm 6'4, about 220 lb (down from 230) and 43 yrs.. mesomorphic acording to bodybuilding.com, and I am getting varying results from caloric intake calculators.. Most seem to say that to keep my current weight, I need somewhere in the area of 3200 to 3500 calories. I used the calculator on the AST sports science page today and it said 4000 to 4300! I'm not sure that I have ever consumed that much.. unless you count going out and eating a large pizza with a couple of beers, and following that with a large bucket of movie popcorn, a large coke and a box of red vines. ( ah.. those were the days..)

I've been back on a workout and cardio schedule for the last month or so, and thanks to this site I've put together a nutritional plan that will, maybe in time, burn off the inch or so around the waist and get me down to about 200 lb. But,... I am eating no where near 4000 calories.. 2000 to 2200 is about it by my calculation, and believe me.. I'm not going hungry.

Am I on the right track here?

What kind of cardio are you doing? Depending on what your goals are you can either up the cardio or drop a little more in the calories (not much). If your looking to put on muscle and not lose too much fat then 2200 calories is a good point I feel. All 3 parts play in - cardio, eating and lifting. See what works for you - try it for a month - if your results arent on the path of what you want switch it up! Everyone's body reacts differently to different routines.

My cardio is 20 min of interval training on a cardiomax recumbent bike on workout days, and 30 min to 1 hr of same on non workout days. Once or twice a week, I exchange that for a 20 mile hard bike ride on country roads near my home with lots of hills.
