Greetings!

Don't even have a plan yet but got some DVDs on exercising.

While surfing on a totally different topic, I came across one of the threads on this forum and really liked what was said and how it was said by different contributors to the said topic which had nothing to do with working out. I thought: if this group of people can be this supportive and thoughtful and intelligent about a topic that isn't even related to the forum's main focus, how wonderfully awesome could they be as on the primary quest of this cyber platform!

So here I am, registered and signed in to start setting out a plan to get my body in shape and in health!

Tentative plan: (starting small)
- 20 minutes of cardio every day on the elliptical
- check out the DVDs on hand
- stop eating after 9pm

I start today.
Cheers!

A couple of things. If by getting in shape you mean losing weight then diet is the first thing to consider. OTOH at 106lbs I doubt you have much if any weight to lose.

Check the threads about resistance training. The health benefits are important.

Is it still snowing in the GTA?

I'll second this.

Resistance training with compound movements and heavy weights will tighten everything up and add much energy to life no matter what your goals are...

Which reminds me... what are you trying to accomplish, if you don't mind me asking?

...and welcome to JSF!

Thanks Robert2006 and FatLenny for your replies and welcome.

My goal is to lose three to four pounds, improve endurance, get really toned, flexible and strengthened. I have been off the daily Kawartha ice cream for four days now - bad habit I picked up this past year.

I will check out the resistance training posts. Thanks for the suggestion.

Someone told me about High Intensive Interval Training, what do you guys think?

No more snow, Robert2006, we have the heat wave now. It feels like 45*C today, Sunny and very bright

HIIT is great. Just don't over do it. It's not a relaxing twenty minutes

What the others have said.

Your first impressions of JSF are correct; if you're looking for supportive and knowledgeable people to help you stay focused and reach your goals you've come to the right place. And, yes, depending upon the journal, non fitness discussions take place and IMHO it makes the reading here so much more interesting.

Give a little to the community, which can be as little as what you're doing, and you'll get a lot back. I also suggest you read the stickies and the journals of some folks around here who have made tremendous transformations. FatLenny's is one that I would highly recommend and for additional inspiring and comprehensive reads take a look at the Transformation of the Month series.
