Default TooMuch 2012: crossfit, road to 1st weightlifting competition.

Long time lurker/poster here.

My previous journal got a bit all over the place since it was restarted numerous times, as I failed miserably. Why is this time different, you may ask? I think its because for the first time in my life I have a clear long term goal: I want to participate in olympic weightlifting competition and lift 170 kilograms in snatch + clean and jerk. The event will take place in december 2012 which gives me plenty of time.

Also, my training is really consistent right now: in four months that I am in the gym I missed only three workouts, and my diet is pretty clean. I train in crossfit style and do additional weightlifting movements training. My current weight is 83 kilograms @ 175 cm tall.

The first thing I will do is tighten up my diet and tweak my lifestyle. I will get more sleep and prepare all my foods in advance.

My current results:

Deadlift 140 kg,
Shoulder press 50 kg,
Squat 95 kg,
Bench press 70 kg.

My goals:

Squat 150 kg.
Deadlift 200 kg.
Bench press 100 kg.
Shoulder press 80 kg.
Snatch 70 kg.
Clean and jerk 100 kg.

I honestly wouldn't say that that's "plenty of time" with your goals (10 months!?!), but hey, it's possible! All the best!

Great workout yesterday: increased my shoulder press by 5 kg to 55 kg. Overall felt good. Have a little wrist and shoulder pain.

I can see something that reminds me of .. dare I say.. SIX PACK in the mirror. Which is now more like 2-pack

Time to hit the beach on summer.

Thanks for encouragement, guys

Yesterday's workout was a killer:

2 sets of:

- 25 hang power cleans (50 kg);
- 21 sumo deadlifts to chin (40 kg);
- 15 pull-ups.

And additional 10 hang power cleans.

Did it in 20 minutes.

Some of those metcons can leave you spent, even some short ones. I've been doing crossfit for 7 months and have noticed strength gains across the board in all amjor lifts. I still struggle with some oly lifting such as snatch & OHS. Mobility is my biggest weakness.

Some of crossfit routines are pretty demanding And I do love olympic weightlifting! Makes all your body work.

Wow. I think I would crap out when I got to the 6 or 7....because that would be 21 or 28 pullups when I got there....

Very impressive.......105 pullups is a *lot*!

Whoa...that is impressive. I'm not sure what the trick is to improving strength with pullups. I've always been able to do a few but that's it.

I felt like quitting at 12, but my training partners kicked my ass

Ahh! I can do 13 pull ups, but I doubt seriously I could after doing 78 pull ups before that! Great job!

Did front barbell squats yesterday. New PR: 75 kg x 3! Lost a kilogram of weight since last month, but my strength is increasing, which means I am losing fat! 82 kg right now.

Me and my crossfit buddies are going to crossfit games tomorrow. The goal is to not to be last its our first time competing. 5 hour drive beforehand should be 'fun'
