Muscle soreness
Posted my question in the beginner forum because I forgot this forum was here.
Anywho, I did the first serious workout ive done in a long time with a trainer yesterday. I am sore today but ive stretched a lot yesterday and today so not as sore as I thought I would be. My question is are there supplements to help with muscle soreness?
Thanks
Precious

I am sure they are products that market towards this, but don't waste your money.
Do active recovery. Not only stretch the sore muscle group but also use it. For example, if your legs are sore from doing heavy squats go on a 30min walk, every 10min stop and stretch. The increased blood flow will bring nutrients in, and waste out. Trust me, it works, compare the feeling before and after.
Now if it is a muscle like a shoulder, do really light exercises high rep.
Keep the blood flowing, don't sit.

Ya know, now that you mention it I remember back in the day when I was sore I would dread the next days practice. But once we got started I always forgot that I was sore. Funny how you forget things like that.
Thanks Flex for the good advice.

Hate to be a pessimist here, but I haven't had a day in the past 3 months where I haven't been sore.
Depending on how hard you hit your workouts, your intensity, how heavy you go and what you do, there will be varying levels of soreness.
I've been DLing for 6 months now, more or less.....and my trap muscles are just killing me right now. And today was an off day.

Yes, soreness is pretty much impossible to avoid after intense exercise. Sometimes it is so bad I cannot sleep (I got two screaming calves that I feel will be keeping me up for a while). Still, active recovery and lots of pre/during/post stretches will lower the severity of soreness.

I can't remember a day in the past month I haven't been sore lol
Eating a lot of food and sleeping enough helps me recover quicker. Stretching is good idea too like the above poster mentioned

Funny you mention this .... my traps are pretty much sore all the time...lol. But to the OP, you may always have some degree of soreness after intense exercise, but, as you adapt to the work, the soreness will become less severe.

In cycling we use 'recovery rides' which is an easy workout of 20-30 minutes performed usually below 130 BPM. It helps flush out waste products and promote recovery.

Some days the aching is so bad I can't even fall asleep.

My twice a week leg and shoulder workout wipes me out and leave me sore for the next couple of days.
