Default I Got One Word For Ya

SHRIMP

Holy crap I've been struggling with the chicken I'm just not a fan.
Just made a mess of steamed shrimp [8oz], a little Old Bay [ 0 calories has sodium though if you're watching that] and 1 ear of yellow corn no salt or butter. I'm totally stuffed and I feel like I've had a cheat meal without cheating. Give them a try if you haven't. It's so simple even the kitchen challenged can pull it off.

Supplies:
Go to your deli and get 8oz of fresh uncooked 21-30 count shrimp in the shell
[that means there are 21-30 shrimp per pound - just ask the butcher he'll know what you mean - the shrimp should already have the head removed]
Buy one tub of Old Bay Seasoning [not spicy hot or anything just makes seafood taste great - if not available in Europe I highly suggest you get some on the web somewhere -it'll wow ya with flavor]
Bottle of regular white vinegar
Buy 1 medium sized ear of yellow corn on the cob
Need 2 fairly deep saucepans and a colander [big mesh strainer will do].

Cooking the corn
Fill up first pot about halfway with water.
Bring water to boil.
Throw in the corn [not literally] - boil 10 minutes.

Cooking the shrimp
Rinse shrimp in COLD water.
About 2 minutes after the corn has been in...

Put about 2 cups of water in the other pot [pot should be deep and not too wide you want the liquid to cover the shrimp when you put it in]
Put in two Tablespoons Old Bay
Put in two Tablespoons White Vinegar
Bring mix to strong boil [frothing almost]
Put the shrimp in the pot - stir it around a bit.
Wait till it comes back to a boil.
Put lid on and wait 4-5 minutes.
Drain in colander - do not rinse.
Put on plate and start eating!

Cost:
Shrimp about $5.50US a pound here so $2.25US
Old Bay $2.59US [will last you a long time]
Vinegar: about $1.39US small bottle [will last you a long time]
Corn: about $.80US
Total: $7.03
McD DBL Quarter Pounder Value Meal Super: $6.00US something
Hmmm....

If the corn is too much carbs for your plan sub a veggie of your choice.

Looks good, gotta love that shellfish barely have any fat; they do have a lot of cholesterol though, so don't go overboard.

Hey I tried the shrimp tonight and I have to say it was pretty tasty. I didn't do the corn but I ended up putting the shrimp over lettuce with some onion and a bit of rice wine vinegar. This may have to become a regular thing.
