Can you Cut for 2 weeks in the middle of a bulk?
Hello, I failed my bulk and i'm feeling too fat (skinny fat): moobs and love handles are really making me uncomfortable.
Didnt experience any gains in strenght (for various reasons) so i wouldnt call myself in the middle of a bulk, I'm sure i can get rid of the fat in a couple of weeks or so.
would it be a good idea to
- stay on a caloric surplus for another 6 weeks then cut?
- Start a Slow cleaner Bulk till around May then Cut for the summer?
- Get rid of the excess fat first then plan a bulk.
- Eat around maintenance in hope for the fat to "melt" with the Hard training/extra muscles.
Cheers

You could try something along the lines of 2 weeks cutting, 4 weeks bulking, 2 weeks cutting etc. That will allow you to gain a little lean mass and drop some fat.

I am no expert, there are many more on this forum that are and may give you a differnt answer, but i am in a similar situation so i thought i would share, I am in the middel of a bulk, but differing from you i am seeing very good inceases in strengh and mass, along with those unwanted fatty areas that go along with it eating at a surplus. I have wanted to just stop and cut many times in the last couple weeks. But this site keeps me going knowing when i do cut the results will be amazing, that being said, I dont think you are really in a the middel of a bulk. Although 165Lbs on a six foot frame doesnt sound like you have gianed to much fat, i think the answer to your questions are in both your 1st choice and 4th choice. since you somewhat started a bulk go for it for another six weks, and as mentioned in choise 4 Train Hard Best of luck and let us know how it goes.

I find it quite hard to believe you are 6', 165lbs and 16% body fat. If that is the case though I think it's even more reason to just keep up eating and keep on lifting. And for longer than 6 weeks as well. IMO there is no point cutting if LBM is as low as you are making out it is. You'll just look like a famine victim. Eat hard, lift hard! Worry about your abs later.

That on top of the premise that you are going to gain 10lbs of muscle on the 2 three week bulking cycles! It all seems a little far fetched to me.

Do you have things "fixed" so increasing strength is not an issue anymore?
I get the impression you're far from your genetic limit in the strength and muscle category, so I'd do whatever it takes to get yourself on a plan where strength and quality LBM gains can be made the primary focus 90% of the time.

Waterbury's 10-10 Transformation is a program that alternates cutting and bulking and is supposed to have you gain 10 pounds of muscle while losing 10 pounds of fat.
|
thanks for the suggestion and links, unfortunately its not easy for me to measure accurate BF% and LBM to track pogress, seeing the scale not move on the entire program isnt very motivating either .

I don't know how much cardio you are doing but if you are not you could consider intergrating 2-3 days/sessions a week of empty state cardio. Also drop you calories back a tad but you need to be knowing how much you are taking in each day.

Layne Norton Bulks for about 6 to 8 weeks then cuts for about 2 to 3. He essentially burns off the fat he gained in those bulking weeks.
Another approach is culking, which Alan Aragon reccomends. Gaining muscle mass while losing fat.

Thanks for all the suggestions.
i think i actually found a sollution, during the last two weeks i got back to eating 5 meals a day, I never stuff myself at one sitting,im definitly eating more as a total calories/day.my midsection is looking tighter and the moobs kinda disapeared. I really have no idea how this relates to that, but for anybody eating 3 meals a day, try it you'll feel much better.
