Default New York Barbell Trip

Took a trip to New York Barbell in Elmira, NY today since I work real close to it. All I can say is wow, their equipment is very impressive. They had every piece of equipment they sell built and available in the showroom so I got to play with several pieces of the equipment.

Overall I'd like to say if you are leary of buying from them because of build quality etc, don't be. Their equipment is top notch as I have been searching for awhile for a power rack and bench. I've been to a dozen stores playing with the equipment and NYBB amd Powertec are the best built that I have seen.

An added bonus if you live close to Elmira or Rochester, NY is you get 10% off anything with free freight in the store if you pick it up.

NY Barbells also has other locations. I can't find any mention of them on their web site -- but they do exist.

I was trying to see various power racks in person and drove all around Long Island to different fitness stores. I found a NY Barbells store further east on LI right off the srevice road of the LI Expressway. The manager at the store told me that I could purchase any of the NY Barbells equipment and pick it up at the store (with no shipping charge -- which can be a big savings on some of the heavy stuff that doesn't otherwise have free shipping).

Yesterday while driving to visit a friend in NYC, my wife pointed out a NY Barbells storefront on rte 107 in Hicksville. I didn't have time to stop and go in, but I plan to check them out soon.

So I have no idea how many other retail locations they have, but I do know that they have other locations other than the Elmira store. The two places I've seen are nowhere near the size they say their Elmira store is, but they are a lot closer to where I live.

If one of their items on the website is marked "Free Freight" and I live in the continental US, does that mean shipping is entirely free?
