Default 35 and ready for a change...bulking for 35 years

Well here it is.... I played football and was on the line. I have been lifting weight on and off for years. I have been doing cardio on and off for the past 3 or 4 years. The problem is I still eat like I am 17. I was 297.5 at the start of this week. I am ready for a change. I am here to make my quest public. I even took before pictures. I am certain I am going to do it this time. I have been logging my food on fitday. I am shooting for the 40-40-20 split. I have been working out with weights 3 days and doing LISS 3 days a week. I am eating 6 small meals a day. I know this is what I need to do. My goal is to get to 210 pounds. I do have alot of muscle, and I think I would look and feel really good at that weight. I am ready to do it.

I think I want to do it because I really want to know what it feels like to not carry the extra weight. I have always been so big I had to always take that into consideration. I doi not want to worry if the chair is going to break anymore. I want my body to be at the peak it can be.

Hey Piner

Put your mind to it, focus, and set small, attainable goals. You can do it. It is much easier said than done, but you can do it. The 'Stickies' Fat Loss/Cutting and are exceptional. 80% of a transformation is in the diet. I look forward to following your progress!

Piner, there are vast resources on these forums. You can find everything you need...

If you post your workout and food logs, you can get a lot of assistance and feedback as you get things dialed in. I'm probably similar in size... I'm 6'5" and carry around 205-210 pounds quite well. I can can try and assist you on your diet if you like....You can go through my fitness journal and take a look at some of my later food logs to get you started:
http://forums.johnstonefitness.com/s...t=40353&page=5
(Scroll down and look for the attachments)
Like you, I targeted a 40/40/20 macro split. Naturally, you will start out at a higher calories level, but if you eat similarly to how I did, I doubt that you will find yourself being hungry...

Diet is the key to your program and your success...Good luck!

Well when I woke up this morning I was 285.5. I was 297.5 a little more than a week ago. When I was 297.5 I weighed myself after dinner. I am sure alot of it is water weight etc. I feel great. I just had my breakfast. It is .5 oats, .5 skim milk, and one tablespoon of PB. I also cook .75 cup of egg whites. I put the oatmeal mixture on the egg whites. It is quite good. I am going to jog for 45 minutes today. I just feel so much different this time. I see myself doing it. I know I can get to 210. I have not been at 210 since the 8th grade.

I awoke today at 5 am so I could get my weight training done. I did Chest and Tri this am. I did the following
Flat bench 3 x 10 225
Incline 3 X 10 135
DB Flat Bench 3 x 10 50
Wide grip bench 3 x10 135
Tricep push down with the straight bar 3x10 60
Tricep push down witht the V bar 3x10 at 60
3 x 10 dips with a little help from a bench. I isolatd my triceps for these.
3 x10 dips where I isolated my chest.
I then did some ab work.
I feel good. I was 285 this am. I am very confident that the weight is going to come off this time. I have been bulking for 35 years. I cannot wait to see the result....

Woke up at 4:45 to get my cardio in. It is so nice being out in the early morning. All the stars are out. It is so quiet. I did about a 40 minute jog this am. I felt great. Diet has been clean so far. I just had the best egg white omellette it was:
1 cup egg white
2 diced mushrooms
some diced peppers

Thats all. It was great. I am going to be lifting this afternoon. I talked to my wife yesterday honestly about my transformation. I am in it for the long haul.

Where is your leg work?

From the one chest session you listed, you appear to be pressing yourself into oblivion.

Just wanted to say good luck on your quest. We are similar weights but you've got a couple inches of height on me. I know how tough it is to eat correctly - I struggle with that everyday.

I think the public journal provides accountability. Something to live up to and somewhere to post progress and receive encouragement.

Sounds like you are determined to reach your goal! It is great that you talked to your wife and I am sure have her support now too!

Keep up the good work!

I agree with the legs. I am really getting into compound lifts. I am going to be doing legs tomorrow. I did 45 minutes on the recumbant bike today. I will also wake up at 5 a.m. to jog for 45 minutes.

Crazy day. I took the day off from Cardio and Weights. My legs are sooooo sore. I know I over did it. Yesterday I did the following leg work out:

Dead Lift 3x10
Squats 3X10
Squats with no weight 3x25
Leg Extension 3x10

Needless to say my legs are feeling it. I will wake up tomorrow at 5 am and do a 45 minute jog. I will then do Shoulders and Abs tomorrow.

Today I am super busy. I am not sure I will have time to get my weights in. However, my diet will be clean and at the right calorie level.

I did chest and Triceps yesterday. Felt good. I purchased those ab straps from the ad above. They work well. I just finished 45 minutes on the eliptical. Feel good. Planning on doing back and biceps today. Ready to get it!
