Question Dfferent Exercise Weight's

G'day

Been reading the forum for a while and was just wondering a couple of things.

What does everybody consider to be a good lift (mass wise). i'm not asking everybodies personal lifts because i agree with John that it would turn into a competition, so i was just interested in what people think would be a good:

a) Bench Press.

b) Dead Lift.

c) Squat.

d) Barbell Curl.

It may allow people to guage where they are in terms of performance, etc. It may be what your goal is. BTW i'm not after a 1 rep max, just a weight you can do at least 6 reps of.

Anyway hope that made sense

I might be off, but this seems fair to me.

I dont know if there is a good amount to lift for those excercises. I mean i can barely bench press 90 pounds (including the bar) but im still increasing my muscular size, by some degree.

The ideal weight would be one that can bring you to failure or near failure after 3 sets of 10 or so.

With that being said when i go to the gym i see people lifting really heavy weights, but have no form whatsoever.

In summation, there isnt really a "respectable" weight to lift for any excercise, and is basically just whatever can "safely" give you growth while maintaining form.

On a side note: ive read that benching your weight is considered respectable as a whole

At maxes I'm: a) 130-140% b) ? c) 160-170% d) 30-40%, which is good if you are me.

But really, 50-200% is good for all A through C! Whatever you can lift is a good lift - as long as you keep on lifting and making gains!

Otherwise, Knubbs estimates seem very good to aspire to, just don't stop when you get there. If I had to change something about those estimates though, I would say 100% for bench press.
