Gym Membership
My Gym Membership expires at the end of the month, and I have no plans to renew it.
I paid for a one year membership in one big payment a year ago. Now, I have a letter from my Gym reminding me of the membership running out, telling me about offers to renew and saying that to cancel membership I need to give 3 months notice.
I did forget about this in the original contract, but is it even enforceable? There's not much I can do now of course..

3 months notice is ridiculous, especially if you paid for a year upfront. When I cancelled my gym membership I gave them 5 weeks notice think I was on a month notice period. They took another month's payment out of my account and told me they had a 6 week notice period, I went mental at them and eventually they gave me my money back.
If you aren't intending to renew it just forget about it. What can they do? They should have informed you 3 months ago. It's just the same old dirty tricks most gyms play.

Thats probably the letter they send to everyone, most of which are on an automatic EFT-based monthly withdrawal type payment. I'm sure it doesn't apply to you, and if it does I would go mental on them if they tried to enforce it.--thats ridiculous

Three months notice? WTF? Why would they even need that? It isn't like an apartment where the landlord needs to advertise for a new tenant. I wonder what the logic is....(other than thinking up clever ways to screw you out of money)....

When you sign contracts, read what you sign. Most of these things can be upheld in court or at least they can put it on your credit report. There are many lessons to be learned in life.
Richie once was dropped by his girlfriend, he asked Fonzie why it happen. Fonzie said "you are a good guy, Richie." Richie said "yeh, I know good guys always finish last!" . Fonzie said " No, they don't always finish last. But, they have to run like hell to see second place".
Good guys can lose if they don't read what they sign.
