Christmas Gift Ideas

I'm starting to think about those tricky people on my list. It's not as difficult as it used to be when you can find such interesting things online. Here are some of the more creative options I've discovered.

Last year, I gave out LED hats, which were a hit.

This year, I'm thinking about a chrome Zippo Hand Warmer.

"Constant warmth for up to 24 hours with just 0.4 oz of fuel. Produces more than 10 times as much heat as most disposable warmers."

I also though these Wi-Fi Detector Shirts looked really cool.


"Finally you can get the attention you deserve as others bow to you as their reverential wi-fi god, while geeky chicks swoon at your presence."

I also recommend for any age, these really smart 20Q games. We have an earlier version, which has been good for hours of fun.


I bought my nephew this ice cream ball for his birthday a couple of years ago, which was quite entertaining.

I would recommend against the Zippo hand warmer. It's easy to overfill and then you get a pocket full of naptha soaking against your skin for an indefinite period of time. It can cause quite a rash. The dry chemical warmers are better IMHO.

I gave some people Curiously Strong Magnets last year and were amazed at what a hit they turned out to be.

Zombies!!! is a terrific board game for anyone who's a fan of the genre.

Two people on my gift list just got new vehicles so I'm considering getting them some accessories from WeatherTech.

I'm considering getting my buddy a set of Blender Bottles on Andy's recommendation.

The little remote control helicopters are a big item this year, and are a LOT of fun, even for adults. I got a few for $15 each on Black Friday, but they are generally selling around $25 right now.

Emergency Crank Flashlight/Radio - Got one of these for my truck last year and it's come in handy on a half dozen occasions since. I'm giving them out this year...and now they're offering them with a cell-phone charging port.

Wide Receiver Gloves - While not ideal for all cold weather activities, (i.e. throwing snowballs sucks) they do a great job of keeping your fingers warm while letting you manipulate keys/zippers/dog leashes/beer bottles/other tricky objects to handle while wearing gloves.

Those WR gloves are heat gear M@, so watch out. The material is designed to let off heat rather than keep you warm, for the sumer time. I think they have coldgear stuff too, tho.

Good point. A search on "Football Gloves" came back with 700+ hits so I just clicked the first link that matched the style I was talking about. There's a lot of choice out there so shop discerningly.

Wow, those look awesome. I need some kind of either driving gloves, or steering wheel cover (heated?) because that's where my winter gloves really fail in their grip. Once I have it figured out what's best, I'll add it to my wish list. This one seems popular.

Great stocking-stuffer gift idea: Nice kitchen utensils like these XOXO Good Grips locking tongs. Most of my utensils are stuff I bought for a buck or two in the grocery store. I got some of these nicer ones in my stocking last year and find myself washing them off for re-use rather than grabbing one of the crappy ones out of the drawer. Great gifts for around $8-$10.

I also found this waterproof bag from Duluth Trading Co. The price is unbelievable. I'm getting it for my cousin in Seattle as a grab-bag gift.

We bought a couple of these Make Your Own Opoly board game sets (~$20-$30 with shipping) this year on sale to make custom themed games for friends and family. My DH is making some for his circle of friends from high school based on the favorite locations and events of their misspent youths. My sister is doing some sets based on her college days to keep on hand when fellow alumni have weddings or birthdays. I'm tinkering with a Geek-Opoly version.

I picked up The Newlywed Game DVD Edition to take to a New Year's Eve party. From the looks of the pictures of the "opponents" on the package, it's sure to chock full of embarassing answers and groovy 70's styles.

I got Yo Sticks for my boys for stocking stuffers. Seems like they are sold out everywhere online, however... maybe I tapped into a trend?
