Default can't get something going, but I will try to change

I still haven't been able to get a streak going. I start off the day perfect but then at night I just say screw it and order out. Last time I looked in the mirror at my huge belly and found it discouraging so I folded. Other times I'm just very hungry. So what I will do is plan to eat the first week up to 2500-3000 calories per day of healthy foods and then go from there. Today I made about 3,500 calories but I didn't overeat or anything. I think the key to doing this is to plan what I am going to eat everyday and get into the habit of drinking lots of water. So I am taking an alternate approach than just suddenly going all out. I won't lose 50 lbs in one month but maybe by the end of December I can lose 20-25 pounds and look how I did last spring.

This is a good approach. Pick a reasonable number of calories per day, and plan your meals in advance. That will make it much easier to stick to the plan.

Your desire to change MUST be greater than your desire to stay the SAME.

That's the huge key no matter what dietary plan of attack you are following. Of course, having a sterling approach is also a very key aspect of attaining a body composition change for the better.

It happens to the best of us..I have days where I think I am making great progress and other days where I just think I plain suck and want to quit. The way I fight this, is through visualization. Instead of seeing what I am, I see what I truly want to be and that usually gives me the strength I need to plow forward.

Don't worry about trying to be perfect; it's not a prerequisite for really great results. If you think a couple bad meal choices or even a skipped workout every now and then is a reason for quitting, you don't understand how the game is played.

Concentrate on keeping things headed in the right direction. A diet as a whole that's better than what you've been accustom to, and more time spent in the quality activity category. At the most basic level, these are the benchmarks to think about.

You don't have to be perfect, you have to progressively be a little better than what you were before. If you follow this path, it will lead you to where you want to be.

A couple of things that helped me were drinking heaps of water when you feel hungry drink one or two glasses. Green tea is awesome learn to love it, it has many benifits one being it quells your appetite. Try making health food in quatities that will last a couple of days so you feel commited to eat that way and once you get into the pattern it will get easier.
Hope this helps.
