What is your heartbeat per minute?
NOTE: HOW TO COUNT YOUR HEARTBEAT PER MINUTE Using the second and third finger to press against the pulse at the wrist and count the number of beats in 10second then times 6 to get your heartbeat in a min OR count all the way to 60second, if you got the time. Some people prefer to use the pulse located at the neck cos it beats harder, thus easier to count
What is you heart beat in normal resting state?
A normal heartbeat of a adult is 60-100 per minute, with children slightly higher.
If your heartbeat is in the range of 40-50 or even lower, may be you are a long distance runner, or may be its a heart condition that you should consult the doctor about it. However if you think its because your heart is healthier than most people and its not a medical condition, please tell us how much you run per week!
If you heartbeat is in the range of 91-100 or even higher, may be it's time for you to start doing some cardio to strength your heart! Because with the heartbeat rate so high, its just a matter of time before your heart gives out and you will suffer from heart related conditon.

I just counted out 44 beats in one minute, but I'm a little excited.
I love my heart, it always scares the nurses when I have to go to the hospital

Mine is 55/minute, i think quite low for a overweight person . I am always better than all the overweight people in school during the TAF Club(Trim And Fitness Club, for overweight students) training.

Bah. 81 right now. BP just 108/72 though. Usually heart rate is around 65 and bp 99/60-something.

I'm at 55 BPM, it was probably about 10 beats lower 20 minutes ago while I was meditating.

Now, I am not saying a high pulse is good. But I have had a pulse in the 90s since I was a kid. I have had annual physicals for the last 40 years (I am 62). All doctors when I ask, say " Some people like you have a fast pulse, don't worry, forget about it".
I have had stress tests, etc. Not one doctor has suggested anything was wrong. So, it depends, like most things in life.

The figures I've seen more often are between 60 and 80 for "healthy" people, meaning not necessarily that they put in any srenuous exercise, but get some form of activity; I've heard women's hearts are supposedly a few beats faster, again on average.
I couldn't count it just now, but almost every time I do it I'm in the range of 48-51, usually bang on 50; when i've been completely relaxed though I've known it to be able 44bpm. That's not to be mistaken for when I'm relaxed in be, when I put on a heartrate monitor and the average for the first hour or so of sleep was 41bpm.
Edit: forgot to mention, I run on a treadmill for an hour 3 times a week at about 9-10KPH, so not very fast, but effective, since my old resting HR was about 58-60bpm about a year ago.

66 for right now. I've never taken a resting heart rate before, now I'll keep checking back.
Now I'm off to search for what an appropriate target heart rate is while exercising. I was hitting 170 on the treadmill today.

Based on an age of 30 and using the formula 226 - Age
Maximum Heart Rate (Calculated) = 196
% of Maximum Heart Rate Reserve*
Percent 60 sec. 10 sec. 60 sec. 10 sec.
------- ------- ------- ------- -------
100 196.0 32.7 196.0 32.7
95 186.2 31.0 189.5 31.6
90 176.4 29.4 183.0 30.5
85 166.6 27.8 176.5 29.4
80 156.8 26.1 170.0 28.3
75 147.0 24.5 163.5 27.2
70 137.2 22.9 157.0 26.2
65 127.4 21.2 150.5 25.1
60 117.6 19.6 144.0 24.0
55 107.8 18.0 137.5 22.9
* Percent of maximum, corrected for resting heart rate of 66
So I'm working out at 85% when I jog on the treadmill.

48 at the moment. I've been doing cardio six days a week for the last three months, which has definitely brought my resting HR down.

To get a truly accurate reading...test your HR the first thing in the morning before you get out of bed.....Because after your feet hit the floor...your HR will jump slightly and for the rest of the day. Also, your resting HR will jump slighty prior to getting sick.....

60 -100 is the norm. i wouldnt want to be anywhere near 100 though. you have to look at who you asked the question of. most people who responded are on the young side. most of them under 30(some in there teens) so there rates are naturally lower. regular cardio will also lower it and most of the people who frequent this site do exercise regularly or at least try to so results here should be better than average. the best time to check your resting heart rate is first thing in the morning before you even get out bed. if it is high then it may be a sign of overtraining.
