Changes to JSF Membership System

Effective immediately, the maximum PM space and maximum attachment space has been doubled for all JSF Supporting Members.

All membership prices remain the same with the exception of the base membership price: it is now $15.00.

If you are a current supporting member, your account has been upgraded and you are already able to take advantage of the increased storage space.

Here are the revised membership packages:


Please note that standard (free) accounts have the following default settings:
- Maximum number of saved PMs (Private Messages) is 50
- Maximum amount of total attachment space allotted is 1 MB)
- Maximum avatar file size is 20 KB
- Maximum profile picture dimensions are 200 x 350
- Maximum profile picture file size is 64 KB

*With the exception of the Lifetime Platinum subscription, all subscriptions are valid for one year. If at the end of your subscription period you elect to let your paying membership lapse, then you will revert back to your old member status. If your membership expires and your PMs and/or attachments exceed the default user quota, then you will have to manually delete enough PMs and/or attachments to get below your quota before you'll be able to use more space.

Nice for people who have been around a long time. I have attachments hidden in really old threads that I'd really rather not delete, because every once in a blue moon someone might refer to them, so this saves me a lot of trouble.

Please, no need for thanks. Supporting members like you all are the ones who deserve all the thanks.

By the way, Platinum supporters already have unlimited PMs and attachment space, so I feel like they got kind of slighted with these new upgrades (I can't double infinity!) I've got some additional value-added ideas and perks that I'm mulling over just for Platinum supporters. If you are a Platinum supporter and you have some ideas or a feature you'd like to see, please feel free to PM me.

JSF is getting to the point where it will soon need some major hardware upgrades. I'm researching hardware now, in fact. The forums are growing, and to accommodate this growth we need increased speed and reliability, and those are my top two priorities. I plan to add more servers, faster processors, more RAM, drive arrays in a RAID 10 configuration, redundant hot-swappable power supplies and much, much more. These are going to be serious servers!

It's going to take some time to get the hardware, install the O/S and all the software, test it and deploy it. That's why I'm working on it now and not later.

Thanks John. I don't visit too often lately but still like popping in for an update or to search a topic. Will we get any kind of reminder when our year is up? I don't want mine to lapse, but I'm not sure I'll remember when the one year mark rolls around.

BTW, I don't know how you manage a forum of this size. My little one takes up a fair amount of my time. I suppose it gets easier as things are streamlined.
