Default John's Spreadsheet

Hi everybody

I'm using John's spreadsheet to record my food data. Can someone tell me why in the percentage formula the fat is *9 but the carbs and protien are *4?

Its probably totally obvious but I can't see it for the life of me.

cheers

Steve

Its because every gram of fat has 9 calories
Every gram of protein/carbs is 4 calories

yup yup, just what zamboni said, which is why it doesn't take a lot of fat to start racking up the points in something, compared to frotein or carbs.

Zamboni is right.

Fat is a more dense macronutrient than carbohydrates or protein, that's why you multiply by 9 instead of for when figuring out the calories in a gram of fat.
