elliptical form
Every time I run on my elliptical my toes go numb, like they are asleep. I usually keep my feet flat on the platforms when running on the machine. Am I doing something wrong? I've tried different shoes and it doesn't matter. Maybe I should be pushing up on the balls of my feet more? As soon as I get off of the machine and walk around a little the feeling comes back. Anyone else experiance this?

We have talked about this in the women's forum before. It is quite common so I wouldn't be worried about it. Sometimes it is shoes that are worn to tight, but it can also be from the pressure you are putting on the nerves in your feet. This is really common for aerobics, treadmills, stairclimbers and ellipticals. It isn't dangerous. Another thing I have read is that your feet expand during cardio workouts 1-2 sizes bigger! Therefore making your shoes tight this could also be the cause.

Try to loose up your shoes, or workout without shoes. I´ve actually done a few sessions without shoes (I always forget mine :/ ) and it feels quit alright. And try to move your toes and lift your feet from time to time, it helps me. Just to increase the circulation.

Try pushing with the balls of your feet for a minute or two. Then switch back to flat-footed position. Alternate periodically to get some circulation going in your feet. This helps me quite a bit.
