Great Form Of Cardio: Go to a Rave
I've been meaning to post this for a few days now. About a week ago after work I went to a rave with some friends after not having been to one for about 3 years.
It was the best workout I have had in a long time. I didnt get home until about 5am and I estimated I was on the dance floor for a total of 2 and a half hours. I hate dancing and cant dance so I was just bouncing and jumping around like I was doing aerobics and I had an absolute ball, and the music really draws you in. I probably looked liked a complete dickhead but who cares
I didnt drink at all but I bought like 6 bottles of water which cost a fortune. Also I didnt take any drugs unlike many of the fools there. The only problem was that my ears rang a bit the next day.
The moral of the story: you can hit 3 birds with one stone by going out with friends, having a great time and getting in an excellent workout. I was as sore as hell for a couple of days after because I wasnt used to all of that jumping around

the only problem with those night parties is the lack of sleep, which the body needs, and the atmosphere lends itself to a lot of people taking... well... you saw what i mean since you said a lot of people were doing stuff. i used to stay out all night partying, but my body cant handle that anymore! i need my sleep!

Thats a good point, I also value my sleep. Many of these clubs dont close until 7am so I should get up a 6am and go in to do my morning cardio before they close All dressed in my training gear and sweat bands. You probably think Im joking, but Im gonna try it just to see if its a good way to vary my workouts and make some of them a bit more interesting. Of course it wouldnt be that often though.

hahaha.... i'd love to see that; you dressed up in cardio sweats, dancing along with those ravers with glow sticks and pacifers in their mouth. Let us know how they take it.

Aye raves are loads of fun! Only problem you really gotta watch out for is that "ringing". I used to rave atleast once every two months, or when any of the big crews were throwing a party.
Thing is, after a while the ringing got progressively worse. Near the end it would take me more then 2 days for it to completely stop. Now a days if I do go I bring along ear plugs

I always bring ear plugs to any sort of concert or club. There's no reason to suffer permanent hearing loss just to dance or hear music

It has been at least ten years since I've been to a rave. Since stumbling across jalapeno.org's Retarded Ravers of America website the whole scene just sorta lost its luster.
Something about the pictures... When a rave is frozen in time it gets funny. ;-)
I still enjoy electronic music... just don't think I would fit in at all at a rave.

I've been djing for almost a decade now in that scene, and let me tell you...there is no better workout. My problem with cardio training is that you are always waiting for it to end. Rare is the occasion where I have been out dancing and looked at my watch and said, "Geez, I have to finish my laundry." I also used to competitively breakdance. That's a fun workout as well. Plus, when's the last time you saw a fat breakdancer?

dang, it'd take all day to go through all the raver 'tards on that site. I really like electronic music as well but after watching this one guy puke a mess of half-digested pills into the bathroom sink at some London club (Fiction? Heaven? I forget) last January, who spent the rest of the night stumbling around looking like this guy: http://www.ibiblio.org/wm/paint/auth...nch.scream.jpg, I really don't want to deal with ravers any longer.
I can dance all night if the music and the scene are just so. it doesn't happen that often and certainly not when I'm home as there no such thing as a just-so scene/club here in the Big Soybean, so that's another reason to get out of the US as much as possible

That retarded raver's site is pretty hilarious, especially noting that people who like my genre of music tend to be very snobby to those cutesy types with the fairy wings and all.

Well I got up and went to this club I know at 6am this morning to do my cardio. A friend of mine was on and he let me in wearing my training gear. It was rather quiet which was good but the only problem I had was the smoke. This place was smaller than the last place I went to and it was filled with smoke. I danced for about half an hour and I got a sore throat. I wont go there again, I think I did myself more harm than good. I'll have to find a place thats smoke free or else I can just pump some music at home.

Metal gigs are the best.
Go see Iron Maiden for one night, and your Rave will look like a warmup .
The day after I seen Slipknot I was sore for a week. And the sweat was dripping coming out of the show. The only bad thing about it was the smoke from people smoking in the pits.
Moshing = good cardio
