I saw that in the pile of cards I got in Columbus. Looks interesting, but my concern is that the Flying Pig is a weekend or so after that, then two weeks later the Cleveland half. Both of which had caught my eye as well.. hmmm

The Flying Pig might be another good one. I'll probably be running the Derby one because my SIL wants to run it.

By the way, Tic, if you go on Facebook and search CTolleRun she has a ton of pics from the Columbus race and there is a pic of you crossing the finish line!

The Amica Breakers Marathon, in Newport, Rhode Island usually makes the list of the 10 best marathons in the country. This year, it was last weekend.

Thanks Kree. Yes, dear son is missing another day of school, which I'm not very happy about, but he has all of his homework assignments and spent a few hours this weekend doing school work so he's up to date.

Dear Jack Daniels,

You just dropped a notch in my belt of alcohols picked on drink nights.

Sincerely,

Just to let you guys know as well.. I have yet to make the time for a run. I could have easily done a run physically since Tuesday, but this week has been stupid hectic. I think I need to sign up for a race just so that it's on my mind.
In fact, I am gearing up to do at least 4 Ohio halfs next year, possibly 5. Yeah...I'm hooked after the first.

Seltzer, have a good weekend with DD and family.
Tic, you're hooked alright. That's a lot of funs.

Thanks for you thoughts about the weekend.

I'll take you word on that one.

Update

We had a great time with dear daughter this weekend. The only organized things we did was attend a jazz ensemble concert that a friend of hers was participating and a choir concert that two of her friends were singing in. The rest of our time was spent walking around her campus and another one in the area, as well as the surrounding town of the second school. Fun times just being together. We left mid morning on Sunday so that we could attend an affair on Long Island in the afternoon. It worked out okay as dear daughter had to spend the afternoon studying for a mid term this morning. Yep, a professor scheduled a mid term for the Monday morning after Parents' Weekend. Nice.

I was at the gym this morning and did about 35 minutes of stretching and core work. My shoulders and arms are feeling marginally better and it took some self discipline to not touch any iron, but I'm going to stick with my plan.

Thanks everyone for your good wishes about the weekend and for the suggestions about future runs. I haven't had time to look into them yet, but will do so as time permits. While on the subject, it's been confirmed that dear daughter and wifey want to run another half next fall and wifey is game for a half this spring as well. I guess that means I'm in also.

Although we were only away for a long weekend I have a lot to catch up on, including JSF.

Have a great day!

A smart person would have done his scheduled run first thing in the morning, but I missed that opportunity and am now looking at a mid day run, probably around lunch time.

Have a great day!

3.1 miles. No Garmin so no pace info. I'm supposed to go on a run with wifey tomorrow AM which will likely be my last run before Sunday's marathon.

What is the weather supposed to be like for the Marathon in DC?

Mid 40's at the start going up to the mid 50's by the afternoon. There's a chance of rain, but the weather services have no consensus on it. I'm keeping my fingers crossed abou that.

Do you think you will beat last years time? From the book I am reading - Running on Empty, it appears you are doing the right thing of running these 20 miler training runs. He writes at around mile 18, the body starts to burn fat instead of carbs, and it is important to get used to that by dong training run of more then 18 miles.

Does the race run by the new Martin Luther King memorial statue? That would be nice to see in person.

Based on the way I've been training, both alone and with wifey, I'm anticipating that my time will be about the same as last year. The fun factor will be diminished, however, as I'll be running solo and not with Ecrivain.

If the course is the same as last year it will. Last year we ran by the still under construction site so there wasn't much to see, but I'm expecting to get a good view of the statue this year.

Update

I went out with wifey for a 3.5 mile run this morning. It was her first run since Columbus and my last before the MCM. Because I'm four days away from a marathon little annoyances that ordinarily wouldn't merit more than minor attention or even a mention here become much more amplified. Making today's list are:

Waking up with slight post nasal drip
Left knee not happy while running
Right hip not happy while running
Right shin not happy while running

I've popped some zinc to hopefully stop my congestion from getting any worse and I'll be doing some extra stretching and rolling the next couple of days to deal with the last three. I'm also going to make a big effort to get into bed by 10 PM the next few nights.

Have a great day!

I don't know about being better, but thanks for the good wishes.

The solo runs are a different animal than ones done with others and while I'm looking forward to the challenge and ultimate accomplishment I know that the experience won't be as much fun as the runs I've done with my JSF friends.

Kree, I'll be visiting my pillow shortly even though I'm not really tired.

I recently got off the phone with Leftyx and we have plans to meet for dinner on Sunday.
